New addition to the family

Hey Y'all,

We caught one of the outside cats we have been wanting to bring in and have been working with her for awhile. I took her to the groomers to get washed and flea dipped. While I was there the groomer showed me a cat she had up for adoption. It is a beautiful long hair. White/gray/black with big blue eyes. I came home and talked to C about her and we decided to adopt her. Her previous owner named her Angel. We have renamed her Snowflake. She seems to like it.

The cats are still figuring out how to all get along. There has been some growling and hissing and hiding. I know that over time it will work out. We are hoping Calli learns to use the litter box. She is not used to it since she has been a outside cat. We'll see how it goes.

It's cold tonight. I am having to drip my pipes so the well doesn't freeze up. It's 31 and dropping right now. Thank God we have good heat in the house.

We went out to my brother and sister in laws house today for a oyster roast. All of us went. Me, C and K. I ate oysters, C and K ate BBQ and fixins. There was a lot of people there. My niece and her friends were there. We sat around and chatted and had a good time. We got to meet a lot of my brother and sister in laws friends they work with.

We came home and K went out with her friend. I went to the grocery store and picked a few things. I have been home and relaxing since I got back.

All in all it has been a good day. Everybody is doing well.

Great Christmas at the swamp

Hey Y'all,

We had family and friends over for Christmas. It was a grand time. We had lots of food We had lots of laughs. We had a house full!!!

We opened presents at about 0130 Christmas morning. K was super excited with her presents as was C and I. C and I was supposed to get up at 0730 and start getting things ready. We didn't make it up till 1000 or so. We were scrambling all day to get it together. It all fell in place with a lot of hard work. Family and friends started arriving about 1630. C worked hard and made a grand meal. My aunt and uncle made it to the get together which was special.

After wards some of our friends hung out for awhile and we sat and chatted. It was nice to relax and enjoy the evening.

We are now relaxing, everybody gone, the food is put away. it's 0245 or there about. I am not sleepy although I am tired out.

Family get together

Hey Y'all,

We went over to my brothers house for a Christmas get together tonight. My Niece and her brood was there. We had a lot of good food and a good time. It was the first year my dad wasn't there. I know he was there in spirit with us. It was good to see everybody.

I was hurting by the end of the evening. I came home and have done 3 shots of Jagermeister, a shot of Drambuie, and a shot of patron. I am feeling better now LOL. Our house is in disarray from being gone and getting gifts together. Christmas eve will be busy for us. We have to get the house back in order and C has some cooking to do for our Christmas dinner on Friday. We are going to have a house full Christmas day which is just fine with me. I like company on Christmas. I am excited.

We ll it's the beginning of Christmas eve as I type this. Merry Christmas to you and yours and may you be blessed.

Getting ready for Christmas

Hey Y'all,

I went to the liquor store today and picked up the stuff for Christmas. Not that much. Some government moonshine, some chambord, and some jagermeister. I drink the jagermeister anytime. It settles my stomach. I had a couple of shots tonight.

C and I went to wal mart tonight. That place was insane!!! Stuff was flying off the shelves as fast as the employees could put it on there. They were out of a lot of stuff like cranberry sauce. We were fortunate and got a fresh turkey because C walked up when the meat dept was restocking the shelf. We did get a ham too. My electric cart died and I had to Fred Flintstone it up to the cash register. Parking lot was nuts. We stopped by Arbys that had a long line in the drive thru.

We drove back to our town and went to the grocery store there. It was great! Three to four people in there tops. We finished our shopping there. They had cranberry sauce too. It is cheaper to go to wal mart but a lot more convenient and friendly at our local grocery store.

We got home and got the truck unloaded. Now we are relaxing here at the house. It's cold outside. 37 degrees at 0050.

Back to our home down south

Hey Y'all,

We made it back home a little after dark. It's already getting cold here. Winter is upon us. We had a good time up in Helen Ga. where we stay when we go up there. www.helengeorgia.com

It was a long trip back. We stopped at the VA in Atlanta for C's doctor appointment. It went well and we got on the road. There was only one traffic jam on the other side of Atlanta coming back.

It was good to get away, but it is also good to get back. I am ready for Christmas eve and Christmas day. TWO DAYS AND A WAKE UP!!!!! IT'S CHRISTMASTIME!!!

Happy Holidays!

Cold night in the mountains

Hey Y'all,

It was 26 when we passed by the bank in Cleveland Ga. a few hours ago and the temp is dropping.

We met J and did some shopping for P for Christmas. We went by target and the mall. After that we went out to supper with our friends A and Ch. J and the grand baby P was with us. P was good and let us have a good time. He is such a good baby.

We want to move up here so bad to be closer to all our family and friends. If it is supposed to happen it will in Gods time.

We are warm in the motel room. We have a room with a good heater. The motel we are staying in is nice. We get great rates during the off season up here. Helen is so beautiful during the winter and Christmas time. We love it up here. It would be a type of utopia if we could actually move into Helen. I don't think that would ever happen because even if we do sell our house we can't afford a place in Helen. It's so expensive here for houses and land.

Well Y'all take it easy!

A day in the mountains

Hey Y'all,

We relaxed today in the motel room and then met J and the grand baby. We went to Cleveland Ga. to baby land general hospital and got pictures took with Santa. Baby land general is where the cabbage patch kids come from. We got to watch one being born. It was pretty cool. After that we ate at a Mexican restaurant in Helen GA. I had one of the best burritos I have ever had.

Later on we went to a auction that we go to sometimes and met a friend of ours there. We had a good time visiting. We left before the auction was over. We wanted to get something to eat and we were tired. I hadn't took my pills and wasn't wearing my back brace. My feet, back and legs were hurting. The stuff they were selling at the auction wasn't that great.

We got some food from captain D's seafood and brought it back to the motel room and ate. We have been chillaxin ever since.

The sun shined today and the rain went away. It has been cold. I like it. I do so wish we could move up to this area. The Christmas lights are all up in Alpine Helen. It's a sight to see.

Well Y'all take it easy!

After we ate we went to the auction. We didn't stay till the end. C and I are both wore out. We needed to go by the grocery store and pick up a few things to put in the fridge. We came to the motel room and now we are relaxing. I got the feeling we are going to sleep good tonight.

Warm rainy day

Hey Y'all,

I stayed up late, slept late and did some running around in my PJ's.

First I went to the local liquor store to pick up some chambord for Christmas. The lady there had no clue what I was talking about so I described the bottle. She brought out several and none of them was right. I ended up going 2 counties over to a liquor store I used when I lived at my dads. They knew the liqueur well and had it in stock.

Since I was not far from my old hometown I went to the ford place and got the oil changed in my truck and the tires rotated. After that I went by KFC and picked up some chicken. Brought that home . C and I had supper. After that we did a few things around the house and now we are relaxing. All 3 of us are feeling tired and wore out. Hopefully we aren't getting sick.

A day in the swamp

Hey Y'all,

We stayed up last night and slept late today. I have been sleepy tired all day. We got out as a family and had a bite to eat at waffle house and then did some Christmas shopping. We went by the Harley shop and picked up our ornament. After that we went to big lots. I ended up going back to the car. It was just too much for me to try and walk around the store.

We came home and I left immediately to go to town and pick up some things we needed. That's what C wanted me to do so her and K could do my Christmas shopping online. I went by the gas station and picked up lottery tickets and diet cokes. Then I went to the grocery store and picked up some things we need. After that I went to another local store and picked up some Christmas cards. I did all that to give them time to pick out my stuff. The only bad thing about buying online and having it arrive close to Christmas is not being able to shake the package while everybody is asleep! I hope they all get here in time for Christmas!

Well y'all take it easy!

Back home in the swamp

Hey Y'all,

We made it home this afternoon, came in, used the bathroom and headed out to a Christmas party over in South Carolina. We had a good time there but didn't stay late. It's been a long day for us. We are both very tired, sore. Just plain wore out.

It was a rainy trip back and people were driving like idiots. I am glad to be off the roads. It was a major change from up in north Ga to the weather in the south. Rainy in both places, but so much warmer down here.

Well Y'all take it easy!

A day in the mountains

Hey Y'all,

We had a good day. It's cold up here still. We had our grandson last night and today till after dark. We went to wal mart. I picked up a toboggan to keep my head warm. We had to have the tires aired up. It's so cold up here it affected the air pressure in my tires. C got her hair cut to a short cut. It looks really nice on her. We got a bite to eat and came back to the motel room and I crashed for a few hours.

We took P back and met J on the way to the auction. We got to the auction late and there wasn't that many people selling. Afterwards we went to the huddle house with a bunch of our auction family up here.

We are both tired and will be going to sleep soon. C hasn't got a lot of sleep taking care of P and I don't sleep much away from home.

Well, Y'all take it easy!

Freezing in the mountins

Hey Y'all,

We are up in the mountains of North Ga. It is downright cold up here! We have been freezing our T Heine's off.

We have our grandson spending the night with us in the motel room. This is his first time away from mommy and he is being a perfect angel.

We went to the auction tonight. It was a special night there. The auctioneer and the guy who runs the canteen were raffling off shaving their beards off for charity. One of the guys who is part of the auction family also offered to auction off his beard. Myself I auctioned off my hair and beard! ( I had shoulder blade length hair and a goatee) My hair and goatee are now gone! They auctioned them off and C shaved it off. Each of the guys wives who auctioned there hair or beards off did the shaving. Together combined we raised over 1100 dollars for the charity! We beat the donation Wal mart had made! That is not a easy feat!

Since it was so cold up here I made only one request. That was somebody had to provide a toboggan hat for me to wear since it was so cold up here and my head was going to be bald. My father in law came thru with a Detroit lions stocking hat! I have to return it to him tonight. We are going by Wal mart today and buy me a good black one for me to wear up here to keep my head warm when we return my father in laws hat.

Well, Y'all take it easy!

Braced in the swamp

Hey Y'all,
I picked up my back brace today. This thing is great! It kind of sucks as far as fitting around clothes BUT the minute I put it on it felt like it decreased my pain by 10%. The doc said that after wearing it for a week or two my inflammation should start to go down and I would feel even better.

We are doing well and gearing up for Christmas. I love this time of year. The lights and sounds and good cheer. It is like a high for me.

It has started to cool off here again now that the rain has left. We had to switch on the heat tonight. We have been running the A/C for the last few nights.

Well, Y'all take it easy!

Rainy night at the swamp

I have to go to the VA in Augusta to pick up my back brace tomorrow. I am not looking forwards to the trip up there. I am going to get to sleep here in a few minutes. My appointment is in the early afternoon.

Christmas time at Cornbreads

Hey Y'all,

I didn't post last night because I was just too spent, totally wore slap out.

They are giving me a back brace. I am so big that The VA had to send me someplace else and they had to order one and are going to have to custom fit it. I am supposed to pick it up Thursday if it has come in. I guess my riding days are over. I'll miss it, but I haven't been able to ride for awhile. My legs are looking better. I went to the nail salon and although I didn't get a pedicure I got my toenails clipped and the ingrown ones cut out. It was very painful because I haven't had them done in awhile. But the price was right- free! I didn't want them to do a full pedicure on my feet and legs and take the risk of tearing my skin. I have a steroid from my dermatologist to rub on my legs.

We now have a few presents under the tree. I have done most of my Christmas shopping. I am not going big this year. We just don't have the money. I am still in the Christmas spirit thou! Christmas may not be big this year, but gifts are not what it's all about anyway! It's about remembering Christ, being of good cheer, and enjoying your friends and family!

May your Holiday Season be Merry and Brite!

Been to the emergency room

Hey Y'all,

I had to go to the emergency room at the VA. My feet and legs are so swollen that on my right leg, the pressure caused my skin to break open and start dripping water. C drove me up here. We saw the doctor at urgent care He gave me some anti biotics and a set of compression stockings.

We got a motel room for the night because I have to be at the VA again tomorrow. The physical therapy dept is requesting that I see them. I am going tomorrow to find out why. I think it is because they want to give me a back brace. I'm not sure yet. Either that or it is a mix up about the last time I saw them for a cane. I don't know what I will be facing tomorrow.

Well Y'all take it easy!

It's cold in the swamp

Hey Y'all!

Brrrr! It's 37 and dropping at 0050 as I write this. It's a cold night tonight in the swamp! The floor is chilly under my feet. I wish we had a fireplace. We have good central heat. We have a friend That has no heat. They are doing the space heater thing to keep warm. I feel for them. I have lived in houses in the winter with no heat in my younger years. It sucks.

We stayed in today. It only got into the 50's today. This evening we got out for a little bit and went to dollar general. We got some stocking hangers that are angels. We have the perfect place to put them. I brought C home so she could get out of the cold and I went to the grocery store and picked a few things up. We saw one of our friends at dollar general. She was there with her mom who is a friend of ours too. It was a pleasant surprise.

We are home relaxing now. I will be up all night as usual and sleep tomorrow. That's the pattern I have fell into. Just can't seem to get this sleep thing down.

Well Y'all, Take it easy!

Cold rainy night

Hey Y'all,

We didn't get out except to go to motorcycle club church. We had a good meeting. It just plain nasty out there. It's 47 degrees at 0425 and raining. Stay inside weather. We stopped by the grocery store just before they closed and picked up a few things. We really haven't done anything today but mostly stay in.

C still has the cold and sniffles. Getting out tonight in this weather was probably not the best thing for her. We might not get out much today either.

Other than that we are doing well. heard they are supposed to get snow up in north Ga where we want to move. I'd like to be up there to see it.

Well take it easy!

Christmas is on it's way!

Hey Y'all,

We couldn't find our stockings so we had to buy new ones. We went to one of favorite stores, Dollar General. Mine is a stocking that looks like a gray cat with a Santa hat and a scarf. His little ears are poking up on the top of the stocking. Too cool! I saw it and had to get it. The price was right too because it came from the dollar store.

I went to my nieces and took her our old tree since we got a new one this year. Part of the old one was burnt out and we couldn't find where it was loosing connection. It might be a bulb, it could be the wires. We found a pre lit tree on sale the other night at wal mart for 35 bucks. It looks great and you can't beat the price. Other places wanted around 80 to 100 bucks for one like it, we found out after shopping around. I really like wally world.

I got to sit and chat with her and B. C didn't come along because she was feeling tired after going out this evening and she is still a little sick from this cold she has had. She didn't want to take a chance on getting anybody sick, especially the baby. My sister in law sent us a bough she made that is really cool thru my niece.

That has been my day. We don't really get out much here lately. We have been staying at home a lot. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Since C has been sick this is the first time she has got out since we went to wal mart the other night.

Y'all take it easy!

Been gone all day

Hey Y'all,

Woke up this morning and off I went to the VA in Augusta Ga. It was a regular check up with the dermatologist and I had to go by physical therapy and prostecics to pick up a new cane. It's a nice one with a padded hand grip. I was driving more than anything. C couldn't drive me this time because she is getting sick again. It was tough on me, but I made it. It was a all day affair. My back, legs and knees are killing me.

Not a lot of news today. It was raining hard in Augusta and raining here when I got back. Just a nasty day. Be glad when the rain gets out of here and it cools off a little.

Y'all take care!

It's December 1st! 24 more days!

Hey Y'all,

We put our Christmas tree up last night and did some decorating on it. Today we finished hanging the rest of the ornaments. It looks nice with it's multi colored lights reflecting off the ornaments. This year when my dad died, one of the things we got was one of his foot lockers of old ornaments. We used them on our tree this year with the few ornaments we already had. It makes our tree look nice and has sentimental value.

It doesn't look like we are going to have a lot this Christmas. I am getting into the Christmas spirit anyway. We may not have a lot in the way of gifts to give or receive, but that's not what the holiday is all about anyway. This year is a special Christmas. It is the first one without my parents. My mom died in '88 and my dad died this past January. Since my mom died Christmas was not as big a holiday at my dads house. We started going to my brothers and sister in laws house and celebrate it there. It made dad happy. The last Christmas I spent with my dad was at the nursing home.

I hope every one's Christmas season is wonderful this year. Enjoy yourselves, your family and friends.
