Amazingly well

Hey Y'all, dad is doin amazingly well here at the house. The first day was a little hectic finding out what he can and can't do for himself. But I gotta say dad has really stepped up to the plate and is doin well. I am not even shure if he needs me above the normal things I do for him when he is well. The biggest problem he has is getting a shirt or pajamas on. I have to help him with that. He also has trouble getting into bed and it takes him awhile and it's a struggle. He did however make it in and outta bed last night while I was asleep and made it up this morning before I did. I am just taking the role of helping him as he needs it. I just hope he isn't trying to do too much on his own and not letting me know or allowing me to help him.

I have been out of the house today, picking up lunch and going to get some of his meds and going by the employment office to get some things straightened out for myself. I didn't take the bike cause thats the way it just worked out. I shure miss riding. Maby I will get the chance to do some soon. I hope so. Y'all take care!

Home sweet home

Yep, the doc let dad come home this evening. He seems to be doin' well here at home, so far. I am still learning just what he can and can't do on his own and what he needs my assistance with. They say when ya get old ya become a kid again. Dad is that way. He has a low tolenence for pain and sometimes reacts to things like a kid would. I am not talking bad about him. He is 78 ya know. He still has heart of gold. He has just become delecate. I am honered that I can help him out a little. I guess what I am trying to say is, it shure is weird babysitting dad. I still respect him as my dad, but I feel I hafta protect him and help him and do for him the best I can, instead of him protecting and doing for me. Dad still tries and often does more for me than I can for him though. Life shure is strange. But it's all good!

Dads surgery

Howdy Y'all!
Dad came out of his surgerey fine and the doctor sounded upbeat, like he really did well. Hopefully this new pacemaker will make him feel better and help his heart. I will go back to the hospital in the morning and if everything goes right, I will get to bring him home. The real work begins then. He can't do much at all with his left arm for a week. He already doesn't get up and down very well so I will have to help him with everything. Kinda like babysitting. It's all good though and I don't mind. He's my pops ya know? Well Y'all take care!

Cold, tired and hungry, but yet content

Just Got back from My cousins place on the other side of Georgia. It was a cold, wet ride home. Had rain about halfway and didn't have my leathers on. Wanted to get on home and didn't feel like comming outta the rainsuit after the rain stopped. So I was just cold. This weekend was a good one. I gave my cousin who is in her 50's the first ride of her life on a motorcycle! She had a permanate grin for hours after we got off the bike. It was alot of fun. She wants a trike, so the pic above is for her. Her husband, My cousin was sick the whole time I was there and spent alot of time in bed. I feel sorry for him. Posted by Picasa

Outta town

Well it's black friday and me & dad survived wall mart this mornin'. We had tried to go just before thanksgiving but could not actually park anywhere that he could get his power chair outta the van, So we said screw it till today. It wasn't so bad.

I'm takin off outta town tomorow mornin to see my cousin over on the other side of Georgia. I've been itchin' to ride some. I did ride a little yesterday, but only around town. I'm lookin forward to seein my Cuz and his wife. My cuz is a true southern, don't take no shit prison gaurd, gentleman. His wife is special and I email her and she me. She's quite a gal. She went thru that gastric bypass surgery a year ago, had some complications and spent a couple of months in the hospital. Now over a year later has lost like 190 pounds. (that is like a whole nuther person!) I haven't seen her yet but even he voice even sounds skinny over the phone. Can't wait.

Well, Y'all take care. Have a safe weekend and I'll see ya when I get back!

Another all day affair

Spent the day going up the road to the V.A. for an appointment. Everything went O.K. but it was so far from home it made me have to be gone all day.

Made it back home and wam-bam my credit card bill and my cell phone bill had hit me in the mail on the same day. Ouch! My money don't have time to turn brown cause I seem to spend it all so quick! It would be nice if everything was free, but it ain't. It never will be. It has always been that way. So I guess I have to accept that fact. Well, enough about bills. They are depresing.

I called dad on the way home and he said "what about longhorns" (steakhouse) for dinner? I said hell yea. So after I opened the mail we took off. Funny thing is we went to a steak house and had shrimp. His was fried with a side of aspagagus and a sweet tater and mine was grilled with rice and a sweet tater. They shure do have some good lookin' wait staff there. All waay to young for me. It is still nice to go and be surrounded by good looking wimmen though.

Called my cuz over on the other side of Georgia. Gonna go and see them this weekend before dad has his surgery and I hafta be around for awhile. We should have fun.

Y'all take care!

My grass is blue

Long day. Relaxing this evening. It shure seems strange with this time away from the rockpile. Today I did stay busy though. Kickin' back and listeinin to some bluegrass radio for now. Hope everyone is doin well. Posted by Picasa

Peacefull easy feelin'

Howdy Y'all!
Just got in a few minutes ago from the bosses house. I got to spend the afternoon with him and Mama just hanging out. I had brought Mama some collards and mustard greens. We hung out and later on she and the boss fixed us dinner. We ate Chinese/Philipino/Korean. Sounds like a weird combination but it really wasn't and I found out the boss makes killer fried rice.(chineese) He also made some cucumber kim-chee (Korean) which I had never tried before and Mama made lumpia(philipino) It's kinda like a egg roll without the cabbage. It was stuffed with all kindsa good stuff. I haven't had any of that in quite some time. It was all good. It shure is a good feeling to know ya got family all over (club family and related family) and to know you are loved by each.

Tonight is a rainy night in Georgia with the storms passing thru down here.

Well, I am off to bed. Gotta get up tommorow and take care of some buisness.

Thank you for taking the time to look in on my life a little. Hope you are well and May your life be blessed too.

I Want some of these with some cornbread! Posted by Picasa

Toy run today

Well, I got in sometime around 2:30 am this morning. Got a shower and the phone rang. It was one of my club brothers. Ya never know what time ya might get a phone call or what ya might be doin'. No problems, he was on the road and figured I would be in about that time, so he gave me a ring. Finnaly got to bed about 3am.

Got up this morning around 8am and took off outta town for a toy run. It was cold as a well diggers ass riding that bike with me coughing and sneezing. But I commited to go and when ya say ya gonna do something ya have to follow thru at just about any cost. I am glad I went though. Got to see some of my club brothers and a hang around. It made my day. The local T.V. station was there filming it all, so who knows? I might get my ugly mug on the tube!

Now I am back home. Just got thru eating a head cheese sandwich. (they don't call me cornbread for nutin') Now it's time to get back on those piles of laundry I got to do.

Dad is gone to his girlfriends house, He says she is doin poorly. I am glad he is able to be around to help comfort her till she gets better.

Y'all take care!

Friday Church night

Howdy Y'all!
Just got in from the rock pile a little while ago. Gotta change clothes and get ready for church. For those of you who don't know what church is, Thats when the club comes together and has its meetings. We call it church. I got the cold and sniffles, so I will be taking the cage (truck) to church tonight. I am a wuss when it comes to having a cold and riding in weather below 50 degrees.

I am now offically on my "30 days". It feels strange knowing I don't have to go to the rockpile for that long.

My weekend should be a quiet one for a change. I hope yours is all you want it to be. Be shure to show a little love to those around you who love you too.

Notice the links

Hey Y'all!
I got my links fixed that I screwed up on my templete, and I did it all myself. I am right proud. Still ain't got the blogroll thing figured out.....yet.

I do hope you enjoy the links I have set up. The motorcycle club education website is really, really good if ya wanna understand what being a patch holding club member means. Thats one of the reasons I wanted to do this blog, so that people will see a little into the world of a biker-club member. I am a traditional club member. I wear a three peice patch. My patch is earned, not given to me. These pages will help you understand some of my world. So many times there are misgivings as to what being in a club means. We are not all a bunch of hooligans looking for a fight as some might believe. We do have a commitment to each other as brothers in the club, and if ya mess with one, ya mess with them all. I can safely say we are not a bunch of thugs though. Thats part of my intention here. To improve the image of bikers.

The bikernet.com link is a website I visit everyday and is created/owned/operated by a guy named Bandit. He was the editor of easyriders magazine back in the day when it was hardcore. I have always admired anything he has done. He is a legened in the industry.

And of course "In High Cotton" is Grey bikers blog. I'll tell ya a little story about why I like greybikers blog. A while back (year or two?maby more?) I was on a goggle search for "southern biker" and somehow In high cotton popped up. It was the first blog I have ever read. I didn't even know what a blog was till then. I started reading greybikers blog almost everyday and have been hooked ever since. He is a great guy that I get to chat with over e-mail sometimes, although not often enough.

Well, Y'all take care and have a wonderfull evening. I'm not shure what tonight will bring. it all depends ona phone call I am waiting on. May go to bike night at a bar outta town. Don't know yet.

News from the rockpile

Ya never know about the rockpile,
Today after work I went and talked to the boss (work) about some time off I need take to go to the V.A. and with dad getting his pacemaker put in. Turns out I will be going on my 30days off without pay starting saturday! It was supposed to happen on the 10th of december! In case your wondering The reason I take 30 days off without pay is because I am called "casual labor" or part time. I work twelve months outta the year 40 hours per week. Since they give me the 30 days off they can get away without providing me insurance, sickpay, vacation pay, and holliday pay or any other benifits. Seems like it should be illegal but it ain't. I shure do miss the month of pay, but I really enjoy the time off.

Tonight I will be burnin up the roads after me and dad go out for seafood. One of the club brothers owns a bar and just hired a bartender I know from another bar and she is purdy! I know I will never ever get anywhere with her, but it is fun to go and cut up with her and share a laugh or two. She's a good bartender. I like to go there on wednesdays to see my club brother too. It should be a fun evening.

Take Care!

Sushi tonight

One more day at the rockpile gone,
Tonight we eat sushi! A ex coworker at my area of the rockpile who is at his regular job in another area of the rockpile, Showed up today to look me up and handed me a ticket for all you can eat sushi! (also at the rockpile) So I'm gonna gorge myself on raw fishy stuff tonight. Doesn't fit your image of what a big biker dude would eat does it? I actually love sushi and have eaten it before in japan as well often in the good ol' USA. MMMMMMMMM. It's ironic that Grey biker over at www.southerntwilight.com/blog would post something crazy about fish. Sometimes I think he is psychic or something.

Dads girlfriend is home from the hospital, but I ain't got much info cause dad has been gone all day seeing the doctor himself.
Soon on the 28th dad will get a pace maker/defibulator installed in his chest. I do hope it helps him feel better. I tell ya what, it shure ain't a task for the weak in spirit to get old. I know when I get old, if I live that long, it's gonna be rough on me. I already carry a small pharmacy around with me the doctors at the V.A. have prescribed for me. But such is life.

Hope your evening is wonderfull!

Fun evening

I know it's late, but......
I just got in a little while ago took a shower and soon I'll be going to bed to hopefully get some rest.
I just got back from dinner outta town with the Boss and Mama, the V.P. his wife and the bosses kids. seems tonight was military apreciation night at golden corral. I was on the way to pick up dinner for me and dad when I got the call and asked if I wanted to go. I have to drive outta town for this since that is where my club brothers are at. I got dad his hot and sour soup and eggroll headed back home, grabbed my colors (vest with motorcycle club patches on it) a copy of my DD214 and lickty split out the door haulin' ass down the freeway to my destination. Got there 10 minutes behind everybody and had to wait in line, a very long line for dinner. It shure reminded me of my days in the navy on a aircraft carrier. Standing in a long line for dinner that is. I gotta say it did taste a whole lot better than what I remember navy chow tasted like. It's always a treat to see the Boss and Mama and The V.P. and his new wife. I always got time for them.

On a sadder note, dad's girlfriend is in the hospital. He was down there with her tonight while I was gone. At first they said she had a anurisum in her stomach. Then they changed there mind a couple of times and now they don't know whats wrong with her. I get so frustrated hearing news like that. Sometimes I think the Doctors must have there head up their wazootie or something. But then again maby they are doing the best they can for her.

At least today at the rockpile wasn't so bad. My lead man and boss were gone so me and my coworker had the run of our part of things. Tomorow will be different though.
While I am on the subject of The RockPile, I'll tell ya why I call it that. Years ago I worked for a guy who had been to prison back in the day. Way back in the day. And he told me a story about being in that georgia prison and the rock pile. There was this place they called the rock pile that ya got sent to if you were bad, got ina fight or generally disobeyed the gaurds. There were 50 men on the rock pile. 49 of them were chained side by side and given a sledge hammer. the 50th guy had a wheel barrow and would get big rocks from a pile and set them in front of the 49 chained together. They would pound all day long on big rocks and make them into small rocks. The only way ya got off the rockpile was to move down the line from nuber 1 to number 50. the way ya moved was when someone got into trouble they became number 1, number 49 became number 50 and started hauling the rocks in front of everybody and number 50 got off and went back to general population. It just reminds me of my work. Pointless labor till my day comes untill I can get off "the rock pile" and maby do something in the bigger picture.

Well listen it's way past my bedtime and tonight is a school night. Y'all take care!

Man, what a party! I mean um, wedding

I am more tired than a retred michelin.
Just got back in a little while ago. I have been basically gone from the house since saturday morning at 11 am. It is now sunday at 8pm.

The wedding was great! We lined the bikes up and the wedding party came down between them to the alter. It was really nice. I got there a little before 12 noon. The wedding wasn't till 3pm. There was alot to do to get set up for the wedding, people and all. Tables to be unloaded and set up, chairs unfolded and set up, tote this, fix that, wash this, move that. It was alot but it went smooth. My boss (MC club) grilled chicken wings ona big grill the women had everything from meatballs to ham rolls to those little sandwiches with no crust, to pigs ina blanket to little sausages, cheese balls and a whole bunch of other stuff fixed. Everyone got to relax except the wedding party as the time grew closer. It was kinda neat to see all my club brothers in white button up shirts. For a motley bunch, they shure clean up well.

The only glich was one of our brothers wifes car blew some kinda hose that goes to the transmission on her car and it was smoking. Not a problem one of the friends of the family got on his work clothes and crawled up under it and fixed the problem. I stood there holding the flashlight cause it was getting dark.

After nighttime fell we all sat around the fire. Everyone one was drinking and having a good time. I was the desiginated driver for the night since I don't drink very much anyway. I just stayed sober. We ended up going to the silver dollar bar at the brides request. I finnaly made it to where I was gonna stay for the night sometime after 3am.

Well sunday morning rolled around and I had to make it back to where I had left my bike the night before(abut 45 minutes away) so I could run home (about 30 minutes away) grab a quick shower, choke down some groceries and bam! back on the bike for another 45 minutes or so to go to the ABATE meeting this weekend. ( which just so happens to be at the silver dollar bar)

Got thru the meeting fine but stuck around for awhile waiting on my boss (MC club) and his wife whom I call Mama To finish up what they needed to do. We were a little later than usuall cause one of the abate members was having a heart attack or something seriuosly wrong with him, and we had to get it all sorted out with the ambulance showing up, his wife and kids and all that. I personnaly don't know him, but my boss does, So we all did what we could do to help out. I had to watch his kids out in the parking lot while his wife was sorting out what was going on.

It may not seem like alot written down here but boy-howdy I have been going with little sleep. Now I am washing clothes so I have something to wear next week and hopefully I can get some rest tonight. One thing I have learned about being in a motorcycle club is when things are happinin', there is little time for rest. I woulden't trade it for anything in the world. I did get to spend alot of time with my favorite people this weekend, especially the Boss and Mama. They are two people I always have time for and never can seem to get enough of them. Have ya ever had people like that in your life? Ya know the kind when ya see them it make your face automatically light up with a smile? I am not ashamed to say I love them. Ya know those kinda people...

Tommorow is the rock pile. I hear the dryer buzzing, it's time to fold clothes. Till next time,
Y'all take care!

Saturday morning

Mornin' Y'all!
Well we had the rehersal last night for the wedding. The bachelor party didn't pan out but we did have a good time hanging out around the fire in the front yard at the V.P.'s place.
Today's wedding will be really neat. The members from the club are gonna line up our bikes along the "isle" (Don't worry the wedding is outside) The chaplin, chaplin Fred is a true biker and a really nice guy. There will probably be a hundred people or more there today.

I'm just waking up and soon hafta get ready.

Dad is going to his girlfriends house today who is not feeling so well. He's been over there alot lately checking on her and doin' what he can for her.

If it's not too late or I'm not on the run doin' something, I'll try and post more later.

Have a wonderfull day Y'all!!!!

Day of creation

Howdy!
I'm Cornbread and this is my Blog! I am really new at this. I enjoy reading greybikers blog "In High Cotton" over at http://www.southerntwilight.com/blog
To tell Ya a little about myself. I am a biker and patch holding club member. I'm big as the side of a barn weighing in at 327lbs. But I got a big heart also. I ride a red harly roadking. I am middle age and living with my dad who is elderly and I help take care of him as much as I can.

My life revolves around two things: My motorcycle club and taking care of dad. I guess you will be hearing alot about those two things and a ocasional comment about my job I lovingly call the rock pile.

Wedding bells for the V.P. tommorow

Well our V.P is getting married to his sweetheart tommorow afternoon. It promises to be a good time for everyone involved. It is gonna be a real true to life biker wedding. I asked The V.P. a couple of months ago what kinda suit I sholud buy and he told me I would be the only one there with a suit. The required dress for our members is a white button up shirt, black jeans, black boots and our colors on our backs. Tonight is of course the rehersal. I am not in the wedding, but am going because we are gonna take the V.P. out for a bachelor party afterwards if it will come together. I think it will. Tonight promises to be fun! I'll see if I can post more on the wedding tomorow when I get in.
