*update to this mornings post*

Hey Y'all,
It's night time at the swamp. We have had a peaceful Christmas. I woke everybody up after my last post. We opened presents. After that we went to the waffle house and had breakfast. I was wearing my new flannel pajama bottoms and a t shirt I got for Christmas. I haven't got out of them all day. We came home and all went to bed. I got up about 4 this afternoon. C was peeling potatoes for mashed potatoes. We grilled the steaks for Christmas dinner. We had dinner and K took off to my brothers house to spend some time and go out to look at Christmas lights. She is back home now.

K got a lot of clothes for Christmas. She got a 50 dollar gift card. I gave C and her mineral makeup. They seemed to really like that. I gave C a color T.V. set for the bedroom that I got a deal on from our local dollar store. Now she can watch T.V. in our bedroom while I am out sleeping in my chair between runs. I got a terry cloth bath robe I have been really wanting, some suspenders a shirt and some T shirts that are big and tall. C got a marines thermometer and a marines doo rag too.

The only regret I have from today is that I didn't go see dad. I never have a day to just spend at home with my family anymore. I called dad 3 times today to let him know I love him. It was evening time by the time I would have been able to go to see him. He is in the nursing home out of town for me. I miss seeing him on Christmas day. I got to see him on Monday. The nursing home had a thing where the family could come out and have supper and Santa was there. We brought him his present and had supper and visited for awhile. I also got to see him Saturday at my brothers house. That's good enough I tell myself, but it's not like seeing him on Christmas day. I love my dad.

I talked to people on the phone this evening till my phone died. It was nice to talk to family and friends on Christmas. On a sad note I found out my best friend from when I was in the Navy lost his father on Monday. He is the woogaus blog listed on my blog roll. Everyone else seems to be doing well.

Well Y'all, Again Merry Christmas and may the peace of the Lord be yours.

Merry Christmas from the swamp

Hey Y'all!!
It's Christmas morning and I am up before everyone else. Usually K is the one waking everybody up. She is in there sound asleep. I am checking my emails and waking up and generally just farting around.

I shouldn't have a call for work till tonight. I am number 10 on board and the trains don't start running till midnight tonight. My manger is taking any calls that might come up. He won't call anybody unless he absolutely has too.

The tree has plenty of presents under it. Mostly for K. It has turned out to be a good Christmas in spite of financial difficulty.

We opened one present apiece last night on Christmas eve. I got a belt that won't fit, K got a mickey mouse watch that the strap immediately broke and C got some pyrex dishes with lids on it that she is thrilled about.

Today for Christmas dinner we are going to grill steaks. Yesterday C and I went to a seafood restaurant and had a big meal to celebrate our first Christmas together.

This is Christmas at our house. I hope yours is wonderful and a blessed one. Merry Christmas from our swamp to yours!!

Oh God! it's sunday night and I'm tired

Hey Y'all!
I have been going like the Duracell bunny. I may have got 3 hours of sleep in the last 24 or so. I have to wait till midnight tonight to take myself off the board. Last time I checked I was number 3 out.

I have been to Baldwin Florida, Augusta Georgia and I think someplace else too. It escapes me. I have lost track. All I know is it's turning cold and I came home to the best supper tonight. C made a chicken and dumpling soup with carrots in it. With this cold weather chilling my bones that soup was not only tasty but warmed my insides up too. Comfort food. I had two bowl fulls. Mmmm.

Got to spend some time with my brother, his wife, my aunt and uncle, my dad and his girl friend, My sister in laws daughter and family, my wife and child. Yesterday we all got together over at my brothers house.

Well That's about all I know for now.
Take care!

Thursday night/ Friday wee hours of the morning post

Hey Y'all,
I just got in from a run to Augusta Ga. Made it there and back. Closed my trip out and I am number 12 on board. It was a good trip. I was a little late getting there to pick them up, but everything else went well.

C baked banana nut bread tonight for gifts. The tree is still sitting there in the living room bare. I wasn't around to help decorate so C and K didn't mess with it.

K is sick as a dog and still going to school. She only has half days yesterday and Friday. I woke up to the sound of her hurling in the commode. She is stuffed up and coughing. C says she thinks she has the flu. I feel sorry for her. I hope we all don't get sick too.

I still don't have my bike up and running. I am still trying to find a battery cheaper than the harley shop. They want 150 bucks for the battery for my bike. I have been checking around online and haven't been able to beat that. Someone said HD use to stand for hundred dollar, now it stands for high dollar. I think they are right.

I got a tire going flat on my tuck again. It's the right front one this time. Something else to fix. K's cell phone crapped out on her tonight. That was another 50 bucks for the insurance deductible. When it rains it pours. Right here at Christmas too.

Did I mention I like Christmas but I think it sucks. Too much expense and headache. Bah! humbug!!

Well Y'all take care,

Wednesday post from da swampa

Hey Y'all,
I finally got a run to Florence SC this morning. They called around 0830. It was a rough trip up there. I ran off the road twice, ran over a truck tread in the road and had someone honk at me as I was trying to change lanes. The railroad employee's were asking if I was alright and did I want one of them to drive. Bad scene. I pulled off the road to a truck stop that is about half way. Got a full throttle energy drink, a slim jim and some chips. I prayed out of disgust that the trip would go better. It got better but the damage had already been done. I looked bad.

I made it home for a supper of tacos with the family. We ate and I cleaned off the table, C went to watch TV. I retreated to my office (the bathroom) and made phone calls. Took a shower and now here I sit.

C and K put the Christmas tree together. It's pre lit and the bottom part isn't working. They bought a strand of lights to go on it. We are going to finish putting it up tomorrow.

Well that's about all I know for now.
Y'all take care!!

What day is it again?

Hey Y'all,
It's pretty bad when I can't figure out what day it is. I just thought about it and this is Wednesday morning/Tuesday night because I put the trashcan out today and trash pick up is Wednesday. Sometimes trash is forgotten, but when I came home this evening I saw other peoples cans on the side of the road and put mine out when I got home. Can's on the side of the road is my sign.

I had a run to Florence South Carolina this (Tues) morning. I made it back and went and picked up C's Christmas present. I still have to figure out what to get K and my dad. I am supposed to go to a family get together on Saturday at my brothers house around noon. I will be working so I don't know if I will make it or not.

I am number 4 on the board right now. I will probably find something to snack on and then lay back down until they call me.

Well Y'all take care!!

Sunday post from the swamp

Hey Y'all,
I'm running on battery power right now. I had a run last night and made it in about 4 this morning. I got up at 8. C and I went to a toy run in South Carolina and hung out with a chapter of the club over there. I had to take the truck because my bike is down with a dead battery. I tried to get a replacement from wall mart but it wouldn't fit in the battery box. I'll deal with it this week or when I have a day off again.

The run went well. The salvation army came away with a lot of toys and we came away with a good time. We went back to the clubhouse after the run and had supper. It was great. I had chili and some jambalaya. I also had some blueberry stuff too. The chapter there patched out two probates. It was a really cool event and I was glad to be able to take part in it.

Well that's about all I know right now. The cat is driving me nuts jumping up on my chest as I type this.

Y'all take care!

Friday's post from the swamp

Hey Y'all!
I have been asleep this afternoon. I had a run to Jacksonville Florida this morning. I dropped the guys off and started heading back. Just before daybreak I stopped at the all night burger joint called krystals. (they are like a white castle) I ate me some gut bombers and got back on the road. I made it about 30 miles up the interstate and had to pull into a truck stop. My bowels were tore up. I stayed at the trucks stop for a good little while holding the toilet down, going to the parking lot, smoking a cigarette and back in again. I made it back and came home to get a shower and something to eat. Leftover cold pizza. Supper tonight was a PBJ sandwich.

C stayed up all night and couldn't get to sleep even thou she tried. One of our brothers from the club got back from Iraq and she went to the parade field this morning with the club to see him back and welcome him home. She got home sometime while I was asleep and went in there and crashed hard. She is still knocked out.

K got home from school and has gone to work now. I woke up briefly to tell her I love her and wish her a good night at work.

Here I sit. I Am number 1 on the board and should be getting called soon. Just thought I would check emails and update the blog real quick.

Y'all take care!

Thursday post from the swamp

Hey Y'all,
I am waiting on a call again from work. I am number 3 on the board right now.

I went to Baldwin Florida this morning and dropped two guys off at the rail yard there. I came home and C and I went to the local restaurant and had lunch. C had her usual breakfast. I had deviled crab, butter beans, white acre peas, broccoli with cheese sauce, and pear salad. I came home and was going to take a shower but fell asleep on the toilet first. I think I was there for about 45 minutes to a hour before C came in there and woke me up. I was out of it.

I got some sleep this afternoon. We ordered a pizza from the local pizza parlor and had it delivered. I got to talk on the phone to my brother up in Tennessee and then the chaplain who married us. I just got off the phone a little while ago with dad. I had talked to him earlier today when I was headed back to Georgia on my Baldwin run.

We have been getting rain down here today. My yard is about to float off. Water standing everywhere. It has been warm but is supposed to start cooling off as the rain moves out. With this weather as crazy as it is, it's no wonder more people aren't sick. I'm still coughing a little since I got over my cold. I am shure that's because I smoke.

Well Y'all as we go into Friday I hope everyone is doing O.K.

Take care!

What day is it in the swamp?

Today is Tuesday- I think. All I know is right now I am number 2 on the board.

I took a run to Waycross this morning and got back and have been waiting on another run. C and I got to spend some time together today. The carpel tunnel in my left hand is bothering me today with pain and numbness. Yesterday it was my right hand.

We had take out Chinese for supper tonight. K went to town and got it for us. We were on the computer earlier today, but when it came time to eat we went into the living room and started watching T.V. C is in there now drifting in and out of sleep because she is not feeling well today. I need a nap but I am not sleepy.

It rained earlier here today but only briefly. It was nice outside when I went to get the mail. There was a Christmas card from my brother up in Chicago. It's one of those with the picture of him, the wife and kids. My nieces have grown up so much and my nephew is a sport.

As I was publishing this a comment came thru from Jackie wanting to know if I drive my own vehicles or the company one. I drive a company van. I get paid .154 a mile plus wait time.

Well just thought I would say hey to everybody.

Take care!

Good Monday morning post from the swamp

Hey Y'all,
I just got about 10 hours of sleep. C woke me up at midnight and I called dispatch and went code 4. I have to put myself back on the board by midnight tonight.

Yesterday morning about 4 I had to pick up a crew on the side of the interstate. The driver hit a pot hole and it bent the rim on one of his front tires. I ended up taking the driver back to his home office in South Carolina.

Well Y'all I feel like vegetating a little bit so I am going to get off here.

Y'all take care!!

PLAYING SECRETARY FROM THE SWAMP

Hey From the Swamp

I am posting for Cornbread cause he is just to tuckered out to type. He had 3 runs yesterday 2 to Augusta and one local. He finally made it home today about 11:30. He had slept in the truck for a couple of hours after his last run. I am glad he did cause it was not safe for him to drive home as tired as he was.

I am still looking for a job and got an unemployment cleared thru the Dept of Labor. That sure will be a relief and also give me a cushion to look for something I will enjoy and not just a job.

Christmas is approaching soon. I have gotten some of my shopping but still have a ways to go. I am lucky that K is understanding during the dry years. She knows if we have it we spoil her at Christmas. She also knows we do the best we can. We are truly blessed to have a Daughter as good as her. That's not to say that we don't have our moments but she has never given us any major problems.

Well guess we will say TTFN for now. All take care and say a prayer for our troops at home and abroad.

Wee hours of the morning in the swamp

Howdy Y'all,
Yeah, it's 4 am and cornbread is wide awake. I had my shower and ate a pimento cheese sandwich. Did my pills I have to take. Did my bedtime insulin. One of my cats, monkey the real affectionate one is curled up on my feet. Speaking of cats, Our cats have found a new obsession. Molly the bigger cat will run from anywhere in the house to the toilet when she hears it flush and lean over the bowl. Monkey has learned how to flush the toilet next to K's room. Nothing like having my cats tag team the toilet. Crazy kitty's keep themselves entertained.

I went code 4 at 0018 tonight when I got in off a trip to Jacksonville. I was supposed to go to Baldwin Florida to the rail yard but the crew got a call in route. It seems the railroad had a crew waiting at the hotel that they had forgot about and put them on my crews train. They sent the crew that was riding with me to the hotel in Jacksonville. Those guys were none too happy about it because they left their families thinking they were going to get on the train and instead ended up going to spend the night in the hotel room. Traffic was nuts getting down there with all the people returning to Florida from the thanksgiving holiday. Plus there is construction going on. All in all it wasn't a bad trip thou.

Well I am going to get off here and putz around a little, then try and get some sleep.

Y'all take care!
