Merry Christmas Verna!!!

And a happy new years to you and yours!! Look back for your comments on the Merry Christmas post!!

Warmer day today

Hey Y'all,
It is warming up as the rain approaches for new years day. People around here are finally getting down off the mountains that have been snowed/iced in since before Christmas. I live in the foothills, not the mountains. My driveway is gravel and not steep. My road is flat out to the main road. The worst I have to worry about is ice and my front yard getting muddy where we turn around at. I can look forward to the snow when it comes.

I talked to my friend today that is going to do my brakes. I got to call him again soon. I read on facebook where he finally got his truck down to the main road. He is using four wheelers to drive down his part of the mountain to his truck and get out that way. He was stuck having to take his four wheeler all the way to town until he got his truck down today. There is still ice on his side of the mountain and he doesn't have four wheel drive on his truck.

We decided that with the weather and how our money is going to stay home this new years. We were going to head back down south but to many reasons not to go came up and we figured it was the best thing.

I got out and paid bills today. I got shocked by my electric bill it was $408.73! Ouch! Add the other bills to that and that doesn't leave a lot left to live on. We seem to make it every month somehow. God is good!

Hidey-Ho Everybody!

Hey Y'all!
I am feeling better today. I didn't get up till almost 1400. C sent me on a mission to pick up some food left over from the Christmas dinner. Our friends gave us a big ol' ham that we had cooked that didn't get used and they froze. It is thawing out in the refrigerator right now as I type this. C is supposed to take it out tomorrow and let it sit out and thaw some more and try and cut it up. I am looking forwards to it cause I love me some ham.

We splurged tonite and ate Chinese food. We didn't go fancy. We both got combination plates with no extras. It was the first time we have ate take out other than fast food in awhile. It was really good food and I gobbled mine down. I was sweating like a pig and loving it.

We were watching HGTV tonight and house hunters international was on. It was about a couple moving to Australia. I have been both to Australia and Tasmania. I would sure like to go back there one day and bring C with me. It is sure fun to fantasize and dream of going there even though I know unless God made it possible, it would never happen for us on our own.

My brakes on my truck still haven't been done. My friend that is going to help me with them lives on the side of a mountain and has been ice/snowed in since before Christmas. I have the pads to go on it. I really need to get it done. They are grinding metal on metal. I hope I haven't ruined my rotors. This truck is unusual. It has rotors and calipers all the way around, front and back. There are no drums on the back. When my friend can get his vehicle down and back up his road, He is supposed to let me know and we will do my brakes. Pray it will be soon because it is getting unsafe to drive and hard to stop. I have no choice but to go out with it because I have no other way to get around. We are a one vehicle family now.

Well That's what's going on today!
Take Care!

Merry Christmas And Happy New Year!!!!!

OK so I'm a little late on the Merry Christmas part. New Years is coming up.

We had snow on Christmas day so it was a white Christmas for us. We had C's family over for breakfast and then we went to the community Christmas dinner that we helped cook food for. It was a good Christmas. The power stayed on and we got home before the roads were icy. We have both been very tired the last few days. It has been hard to get motivated to do anything it seems. C has been sick today. Hopefully she will be OK in the morning. I have been sleeping a lot.

If I don't catch ya before new years, Happy New Years!!!!

Feelin rough, but still got out in the cold

Hey Y'all,
I am still feeling rough from this cold I've had. My nose is constantly running. I got out and helped a friend today move some stuff. It was cold and the temperature was dropping while we were out there. That heater in the truck sure felt good.

We had company over for supper tonight. C baked a small ham. It was really delicious. We had a good time sitting around talking.

Well, I am feeling rough still, so I am going to get off here.

Another cold day

Hey Y'all,
Our daughter took the grand for this evening. C and I went to Home Depot and Lowe's and used some of our money we had on merchandise return cards to buy Christmas stuff. We got some pretty good deals and enjoyed ourselves. It was cold outside, but we were warm with the heater in the truck going.

We headed home and stopped at McDonald's drive thru and got two large fries and two large diet cokes and had them on the way back. We were both hungry since we hadn't had anything to eat all day.

We came home and P the grand came back home shortly after. C cooked hamburgers. We sat down and had hamburgers for supper. They were Delicious. We had already had our fries earlier.

Times are hard for so many people right now. I hear of stories everyday that are sad. People losing jobs this time of year, livelihoods going away. It's rough. I guess this is a time when we should all count our blessings. I know it's tight right now for me, But God has been blessing me and my family.

Well, Y'all Take Care!

Brrrr It's Cold!

Hey Y'all,
As I type this it's 14 degrees outside according to my thermometer. For me, That's cold!

One of my cats, "Crack Kitty" got out this afternoon and I didn't catch her. I hope she makes it thru the cold night.

We got out and went to the Harley shop today. I had some leftover chrome cash- redeemable cash from a credit card I use to use a lot. It can be redeemed at the Harley dealership. We used it to buy Christmas presents this year since times are rough. We were able to get the girls and me and one of Parker's gifts. I will know what I am getting, but it will be wrapped up and under the tree for me on Christmas morning. We still have some money left on cards for Lowe's and Home Depot. We are going to do the rest of our Christmas shopping with those. We received a Christmas card from one of my family members that had a small check in it. It came at just the right time and will help get us thru the month.

We had a good time this afternoon. After we left the Harley shop, we headed home. On the way there we stopped at Taco Bell and had a bite to eat in the truck. We were toasty warm. P our grandson sat back there in his car seat and ate his quesendilla. He was a good boy most of the day.

Well Take it easy!

God is graciously good

Hey Y'all,
We are still going thru hard times. Money is scarce. But God will bring us thru the hard times.

Today there were snow flurries and the temps stayed in the upper 20's. Tomorrow it is only supposed to go to 28. Being the dork I am I haven't seen much snow in my life. I can prolli count on my fingers and toes the number of times I have seen snow. It's something special to me. I opened the front door and sat in front of the glass door and watched it snow for a good part of this afternoon. It was fun! It wasn't sticking here at the house. I had to go to wal mart and it was sticking up the road a few miles from the house.

I had to go to the store to buy milk, bread, tea bags and diet coke. It's a running joke around here that when the weather gets a little bad those are the things you buy, especially the milk and bread. We were just simply running low, I wasn't buying them for the cold. The shelves were starting to look bare by the time I got there.

We are all fighting colds around here. We keep passing them around to each other. Hopefully we will be feeling better this week.

Well, Take it easy!

Interesting week

Hey Y'all,
Tuesday C had a doctors appointment with the VA in Atlanta. Wednesday P the grandson had a doctors appointment for his 1 year check up. He got his shots like a big boy and is doing good. I have a doctors appointment in the morning.(Friday)

Today I got some assistance with our power bill at one place. The other place I went to which was a church, I got food assistance. I am not ashamed to get help. We are doing all we can do to survive.

It's cold again tonight. right now it's 0120 in the morning and 26 degrees. I got chilled tonite and had to get my PJ bottoms on. My feet are like ice. My hands were that way earlier.

Well I have to get up early in the morning. Hope Y'all are doing good!

Cold Day

Hey Y'all,
Today has been cold all day long. This morning I got out in it. I went to my insurance agent and got the insurance on my truck worked out. I came away doing OK. My payments are less than 100 dollars per month.

I went this afternoon and got some more food assistance and walked away with some firewood on the back of my truck also.

I came home and cooked supper for us. I made shake n bake chicken thighs, mixed veggies from the can and cranberry sauce. Easy to fix meal and fairly quick. It only took about 50 minutes for the chicken. The mixed veggies were easy just pour them in the pan and heat them. The jellied cranberry sauce was easy. just get it out of the can and slice.

Well that has pretty much been my day. Hope yours went well!

Cold day today

Hey Y'all,
It's been a cold day today (Wednesday) Right now it's 0105 and 31 degrees. The house has a chill on it. I had to change out of my lounging shorts and get into my pj bottoms.

We had company for supper. I made pork chops, Mashed taters, Green beans. We had fresh fruit for dessert. Everybody liked my cooking and said I did good.

I did my bill paying for the month. It didn't leave a lot left over to survive on for the rest of the month. I have to go today (Thursday) to get my insurance on my truck arraigned for. That means even less money for the month. I am trusting God to get me thru this month, and the next and the next and the next and so on.

As I finish this post it is 0410 and 30 degrees. I had someone Chat with me that I haven't spoke to in 19 years or so. Then I tried to go to sleep to no avail so I got up for a bit. Now I am fixing to put it back down again. I have to be up at 0800 to take care of some stuff.

Y'all take care!!
