Hump day post from the swamp

Hey Y'all,
Just got back from supper at the local restaurant. I had salmon patties, Lima beans, field peas with snaps, and mac n cheese. I didn't have my usual sweet tea because my blood sugar was running high. I had diet coke instead. I forgot my insulin shot this morning. I took my evening one after supper.

Today at work was good. I was removing wall plates from outlets and switches. Taking down mini blind holders, removing cove base, taking down shelves, loading the trailer with debris, and steaming wall paper off the wall.

I am looking forwards to tomorrow. Thursday night is the auction. We are looking for another chest of drawers to replace the old one we have. Hopefully we can find something we like.

Well C and K are home from dollar general so I am going to get off here.

Y'all take care!

Tuesday's post from the swamp

Hey Y'all,
K was home from school today. She woke up this morning throwing up. There has been a virus going around her work. She has had a hard time of it lately.

I worked today and so did C. We are both tired. C came home and made us burgers on the grill. K ate half of hers but it wasn't done enough for her. She took another one out on the grill, cooked it to her taste. She was using a big grill spatula thing to bring it in and dropped it on the floor right where the cats room is beside the litter box. No three second rule there!

C is in watching the T.V in the living room and K is watching her T.V. in her room. Me I am going to finish typing this and get a shower and go to bed.

It's going to be cold as a well diggers ass in the morning. Lower 30's. I had frost on my windshield this morning when I cranked up the truck to go to work. I shure am glad I got heat in my house. I can remember in my younger, poorer days having no heat and sleeping under a electric blanket my folks had given me just to stay warm. One place I lived in had gas heat and the heaters were in such bad shape I was afraid to leave them burning all night. It was hard to get out of bed. I would get out of bed from under the electric blanket run and fire up the heaters and the gas stove and oven and crawl back in bed till the house warmed up a few degrees. I would sleep with a knit cap rolled down over my ears and all the way to the top of my nose so my head would stay warm. The house had old timey wood floors and no insulation and a tin roof. It was drafty and cold in the winter time. Now I set the thermostat and pay the ungodly electric bill.

My brother up in Tennessee just insulated under his house and put more insulation in the attic. The electric company up there raised the rates 20%. He has a furnace too but natural gas is expensive so he uses electric space heaters. The kind that look like a radiator and are filled with oil. He says they work pretty well and keep his heating costs down.

Well Y'all I am going to get my shower and go to bed.
Take care!!

Monday Swamp Style

Hey Y'all,
C is on the way back from the emergency room with K. She sprained her ankle. It was really swollen bad and hurt her. K was at work and she got sent home.

This weekend we were busy with barely anytime to rest. Thus the lack of posting here. We did go out and spend the gift cards we got from the wedding on a gas grill for C and tools I need for work for me. Last night we had rib eye steaks cooked on the grill and C did a excellent job with them. Tonight we were supposed to have patted out hamburgers cooked on the grill, but this came up with K being hurt. I had a big mac. Not quite the same, but I got my burger fix. I'm just glad K is O.K. and it's only a sprain.

Work is going O.K. I just wish I had the mind I use to for this kind of work. I have or had a lot of skills to do this type of work. Ever since I had my nervous break down a few years back and am taking medications, I just can't think and figure things out like I use to. Maby it was all the pot and coke I did when I got out of the navy that screwed up my head. I don't know, but things just aren't the same. It's frustrating when I know I use to could do things and make them work and now I have to ask somebody to show me and I barely grasp it. I am good for general labor anymore and that's about it. With my physical limitations and medical problems, sometimes being a general laborer is hell. I call it getting old and my youth catching up with me. I hurt more and can't do the things I use to when I was in my 20's. I don't like to complain, and I am not complaining. I just do whatever the good Lord gives me to do and try to maintain. I can't change the past and I have to play with the hand life has dealt me.

Well C will be home soon and I need to pee. I'm going to get off the computer and relax some before she comes home with K.

Y'all take care!

That's why I call it the swamp

Hey Y'all!!
The rain didn't let up all day today. I was soaked and cold all day today. This afternoon and evening it was raining even harder. My yard is about to float away. Lot's of standing water. The cypress trees are loving it I am shure.

Have I ever mentioned why I call it the swamp? When we bought our property we knew it was "low". Lot's of cypress and pines. When it rains hard like today the water in the back yard stands and everything is soggy. My dad use to kid me that I bought swamp land. I recently had a guy out to look at it to see about cruising the timber off of it. He kind of hung his head and said he couldn't give me anything for it because the pines were so small. So we got woods! I am kind of glad though. I wanted to make some money off the swamp, but a family down the road and one up the road cleared their land and it looks so bare. I like my trees.

There are no trees directly around my house for shade. I like that too. The shade would be nice, but a friend of mine, a brother in the club, last month had a big oak limb drop thru his kitchen. I have homeowners insurance, but I don't want to have to use it.

Do Y'all know what cypress knees are? I am shure most of you do, but there may be some that don't. Cypress trees roots sometimes grow up out of the ground and form "knees" They can be a few inches tall or a few feet tall. The ones around my property are mostly a nuisance. I run over them with the lawn mower and tear up the blades. Grow in the path of the gate so I can't open it up. I have seen some real pretty stuff made out of the big cypress knees that come from down around the rivers down here. They are smooth as a babies ass and finish real well. Some people cut the big ones off where the come out of the ground and finish them and just put them in their house. I don't have any big pretty ones like that cause my water ain't that high, when I have water on my property. I found out from my insurance company, farm bureau that I live in a flood zone. I don't have flood insurance. If the water gets up as high as my single wide, it has a long way to go. It might get the air conditioner unit outside and the steps but that's about it.

Well Y'all I'm getting tired. I think I am going to take a shower and go to bed.

Y'all take care!!

Sunday in the swamp

Hey Y'all,
I'm sitting here listening to our wedding music we have on disc that our DJ friend made for us. Right now I am listening to one of my favorites "Sea of love" by the honey drippers. That was one of the pre wedding songs.

Today we went to the local Methodist church. It was a little too low key for us. Most of the people there were over 60 and dressed in traditional Sunday go to meeting suits and dresses. It was a good service but nothing that made us think "wow, I want to go here" On we go on our quest for a church. When we have another free Sunday we will try it again.

We got rid of our queen size bed today. We gave it to a friend of C's from work. I would rather it go to somebody we know than sell it to someone we don't know.

Well I got to go pick K up from work.

Y'all take care!!

Woke up in the swamp

Mornin' Y'all,
I was sleeping along fine, wore slap out from a long week at work. It's four thirty and flop my arm goes off the side of the bed and knocks the ashtray off my night stand. I get up to go pee and hear it raining. I'm awake now so I figured I would come out and update my blog. It's one of the few times I can get on the computer when nobody else is on it. The cats are all over me and I have to keep putting them down from the computer desk. That's how my night is going.

I posted recently about a guy at work who nobody could stand and was bad mouthing me to the bosses. Well that asshole got fired Friday. They finally got tired of his poor quality workmanship and lack of ability to get along with his co workers.

I am not perfect myself. I unintentionally threw a guy Chs I work with under the bus about some damage he did to a floor in one of the units. I did own up to it and talked to Chs about it and let him know what happened and how it went down. Me and the Chs are cool with it. Or let's say he is cool with me about it. I am not a snake in the grass. The guy that got fired S was getting payed more than a lot of us that are working out there because he made himself out to be a super contractor which he is not. I wanted to get hired on as general labor with space to learn. My pay is not as high, but neither is the companies expectation of me either. The guy who got fired did not meet the companies expectation of him.

Well Y'all I'm getting tired again. I think I will dig around the kitchen for a snack and the go back to bed.

Y'all take care!!

Catchin' up from the swamp

Hey Y'all!
It's been a long week. I have been working and mostly tired. The job is going ok. There is a guy there who can't nobody stand that I found out has been stabbing me in the back and talking bad to the bosses about me. I confronted my supervisor about it and he said not to worry that he got a different story from other people there and until him or his boss says anything to me I shouldn't worry. I hate a snake in the grass. I want to kick his ass, but I would lose my job that I so desperately need right now. The sorry piece of shit ain't worth it. Not to mention the possible jail time.

This weekend C and I and other couples from our chapter of the club took off out of state to see two new chapters of our club get there charter. The national officers were there and it was a big deal. We left Saturday morning and got back Sunday afternoon about 4:30. We got to get away. We went out to eat with another couple from the club at longhorns steak house, went back to the motel room and stayed up late watching a sappy movie. It was kind of like a mini honeymoon for us.

We came back home and put together a king size bed we bought at the auction Thursday night. C is in there reading and getting ready to go to sleep on it right now. As big as we both are the queen size was just too small. My elbow would always end up in her ribs and she would be all on my side of the bed when she would turn over at night. We had to go to wall mart and pick up some sheets because the ones we bought while we were out of state were queen size packed in a king size bag. We got flannel sheets for now that match the quilt we bought.

When she lived up in Atlanta and I would come up, she had a full sized bed. We use to have to sleep with her head at my feet and my head at her feet just to fit in it. We thought a queen size would be just right. We have learned from staying at motels with a king size that a king size is what we need. We got a steal of a deal on it. It has some problems but it is still useful. It is a four poster with the tall carved posts. We got it for 120 bucks with a spring air mattress in great condition and box springs. I am looking forwards to sleeping on it tonight. Now we have to figure out what to do with the queen size bed. Next thing I want to find hopefully at a super price is two new dressers for me and C. The one dresser we are using right now is one that was left on the property when we bought it. We had a friend do a little repair to it but it is in crappy shape. We have been so poor starting out that we just couldn't afford nice things. C, K and I have been living together for a year now and we are slowly getting our house together.

Till next time,

Married life in the swamp

Hey Y'all,
We had family night tonight since K was off work. We went to western sizzler. K and I met C there. After supper they went on to the dollar store and I came on home. I put the trash can out by the road because garbage pick up is tomorrow.

Today was C and I first day back to work. It was a long day for both of us and we are tired.

I tried to post last night but I kept falling asleep. I was that way all day yesterday. We took dad to the doctor and got him back to the nursing home. C was driving most of the time. I couldn't keep my eyes open.

I think I am going to get my shower and get ready for bed.

Y'all take care!

I do is done did in the swamp

Hey Y'all!!

The strangest thing happened this morning. I woke up with a wedding ring on my finger laying beside a beautiful woman at a motel room.

The wedding and reception went great!! C and I were both a bundle of nerves before the wedding. I think everyone had a good time. My dad keeps calling me and telling me what a good ceremony and party it was. My cousin E told me it was the best wedding she has ever been to.

We had my cousins from Minnesota in town. My cousin E from Alabama was there. Almost all my brothers were there. C had her family from north Georgia in town. There were brothers from the club from all over the state and out of state too. Another local club was there too. A whole lot of friends too.

When she walked up the isle during the ceremony she was crying which made me tear up. She was so beautiful. After we were married we walked back down the isle which was lined with motorcycles and as we passed each motorcycle they fired up one by one and when we got past them all they reved up their engines. The reception was great. We did our first dance to our song "God bless the broken road" She danced with her dad to "I loved her first". We did the garter toss to all the available young men and she did the bouquet toss to the available young ladies. The cake turned out wonderful.

We had good friends and good fellowship. If it weren't for my friends and C's friends helping us, we could have never pulled it off. When we went back to the motel, our room had rose petals scattered on the floor and the bed. There were candles on the night stand and on the other night stand was some strawberry syrup and a spin the bottle game. On the table were two champagne flutes and between them were a bottle of sparkling grape juice. Our friends that work at the motel did that for us.

We were both whiped out and still are so tired. We had to go back to the clubhouse today and finish cleaning up. I don't drink but I had to sip some moonshine I have at the house just to ease the pain after we got done. There was no hanky panky on our wedding night cause C and I were just too exhausted. There is no hanky panky tonight either. It will probably take a few days to get over this weekend before either of us feel like fooling around.

Tomorrow C and I took off work so we could take dad to the cardiologist. I am glad we did because I don't think either of us will be in any condition to produce and function any at work until Tuesday.

Well y'all I just wanted to update and tell everyone what a good time we had.

Y'all take care!!

Two days and a wake up

Hey Y'all,

Yep it's getting closer. C is amazed I am not nervous. I have been too busy to be nervous. A lot of people ask me if I am getting cold feet. My answer is no. I told C tonight that if I wasn't shure this was the right thing then I would be nervous. I know we are meant to be together.

I have off Thursday thru Monday. Tomorrow we are going to do some more shopping for the wedding. Tomorrow we have friends coming in from out of town, from the north and the south. We are going to try and all get together for supper. Tomorrow morning is scramble to get the house semi clean.

We are letting her folks, her oldest daughter and her cousin take over the house for the weekend. We are going to stay at the motel. They needed a place to stay and we can't afford to put them up in a motel for the night, so we told them they can stay at the swamp. A friend of ours is giving us a room for Friday and Saturday night at the motel.

I am enjoying my new job, but I am tired. We work 8 to 5 Monday thru Friday. It is a little fast paced. I am slow paced. It is taking a little getting use to.

Well that's about it for now. Hope everyone is doing well. The next couple of days will be hectic. Hopefully I can get a post in before the wedding.

Y'all take care!!
