Lazy sunday at the swamp

Howdy Y'all!
I got up this morning about 10 or so. Been talking on the phone with my old boss down in Florida and my brother up in Tennessee. We were talking about the hurricane and tropical storm Hanna. The hurricane in the gulf area doesn't worry me, I am watching tropical storm Hanna. That is the one we could get some rain and wind from.

Went and saw dad yesterday and got his cell phone straitened out. He is doing O.K.

C is still asleep right now. We stayed up till after 2 am this morning. K has gone to work. She had a friend pick her up and take her this morning. I am sitting here eating pop tarts and having a hot flash. I get them from time to time. Don't know why I get them, but I do. It could be because of my sugar, or male menopause?

The neighborhood kid who mows my lawn is going to finish mowing my grass today. He started yesterday and finished most of the front. Today he is going to get the back too. We don't usually have him cut the back. It is big time overgrown. I called to see about a bush hog to do the back and the guy wanted to charge me 125 bucks. Then to add insult to injury he said he would mow the whole lot for 200 bucks. He said he had a three hour minimum. It would take him less than 30 minutes with a bush hog to cut it. It will be tough, but he neighborhood kid will mow my whole yard front and back for 50 bucks.

Well C is up now. I am going to get off here and visit with her.

No paycheck at the swamp

Hey Y'all,
Saturday morning in the swamp and everyone is still asleep. I woke up at 7 something, ate a can of barbecue Vienna sausages and here I am. We will have breakfast later when everybody gets up.

Well I didn't get paid again this week from my job. The lady we were supposed to get a check from is out of town until next week. When we do get a check from the lady the boss is going to pay me for one week. He owes me for 6 days. I'll get 5 and he will have to catch me up on the other day. I am starting to remember why I got out of the construction business years ago.

C went out yesterday and found her a dress for the wedding or either her friend is going to make it for her. She is being all secretive about it. I can't say much because I don't know much.

K is doing fine. She sometimes has that teenage smart mouth on her that gets on my nerves. She is basically a good kid thou.

Dad is doing pretty good. We are going to see him today and take his cell phone to alltel and see about getting a new battery for it. It won't hold a charge.

I'm hungry and hope C gets up soon so we can get some breakfast or either make some.

Hey Y'all from the swamp

Hope everyone is doing fine.

I got off work early today so I could be shure K had a ride to work herself this afternoon after school. C was with Dad at the doctors. He has this big lump on his chest right over his pacemaker. The doctor is taking him off his coumadin and says the swelling will eventually go down on it's own. Dads pacemaker is working fine.

This has been a weird week for me and work. We didn't work Monday and I needed to take it off anyway to help dad with some stuff. I worked Tuesday. Wednesday I had to go up to the V.A. to see two of my doctors. (The podiatrist and the shrink.) We are working in that house finally that they have been running us off from. I was cutting slate today and playing helper too. I guess we will be there tomorrow. I hope I get paid this week. The boss still owes me for last week.

Weekend post in the rainy swamp

Hey Y'all!!
Today was another rainy day as Faye passes thru. It finally stopped this evening a few hours before dark.

We weren't home a lot today. We took K to work this morning and did a lot of running around. We got some stuff for the cats including a little cloth house for them to play in. We want a tree house with a cat condo but they are just too damn expensive.

Went over to the president of our clubs house to bring him some paper work and he had a tree limb fall on his trailer and knock a hole in the roof. It was a big old rotten limb from a old oak tree. Sometimes I wish I had trees over my house for shade but seeing what it did to his roof and ceiling I am glad we don't.

Went to the bar and saw my boss from the new job I have. He doesn't have a lot of money this weekend either so I took him a twelve pack of bud light that we had bought for when our friends came down from Atlanta. They didn't drink it and I won't so I figured he could use it.

While C and I were out shopping today we bought some plastic poop. We put it on K's bed. She came running out of her room hollering Mom the cats pooped on my bed right where I sleep!
C called me and said go in there and get it honey. I went in there and scooped it up with a piece of cardboard and turned around to face K and C. I then suddenly popped it in my mouth and K screamed! We all bust out laughing especially K when she realized it was fake.

Good morning sleepy post from the swamp

Good Morning Y'all,
I am home today from work. We didn't have anything to do. We were working in a house earlier this week, but the construction company said they didn't want us in there till at least next week. That was going to be our work for the week. I will only get paid for three days work. I may not get paid Friday. That's the construction business for ya when I work for a small time guy. When he gets paid, I get paid. He's good for it. It's just the way things worked out. He's waiting to get a check from another job we did this week.

Y'all I'm sorry if I ain't been posting. I come home tired and sweaty. All I want is some supper, a shower and the bed.

We went out for brunch last Sunday with some friends in the club from South Carolina. Had a good time. Wednesday night we had a family night and went to the local restaurant here in town. Just C, K and I.

K is doing well. She is in JROTC this semester but hates it because of the PT. She took it because her then boyfriend at the time is in it. Now they have broken up and she is stuck with the class this semester. She plans to change classes next semester in December.

C is doing well. She has went on a lot of job interviews this week. Maby one of them will work out. She has been super busy getting out invitations for our wedding amongst other things.

Well C needs the computer. She woke me up from where I dozed off.

New post from the swamp

Hey Y'all!!
Hope this finds everyone doing well.

I got off work today with the intention of going to the bar and throwing darts tonight. After getting a shower and having a delicious supper of eggs and sausage prepared by C, I realized I am more tired and achy than I realized. C is watching T.V. and I decided it has been way too long since I updated my blog.

Today I spent the whole day with a sweat bath. It was overcast and in the afternoon misted rain. I was cutting slate with a bar cutter all day outside. The handle I had to wrap with some rubber I found because it was hurting my hand. I cut 50- 6"x6" pieces and 44- 12"x12" pieces. S left the keys in the van and I locked the door. We were without a van for awhile. We tried slim Jim's, different keys. We finally got it open by pounding a wedge in the door and feeding a rod inside to hit the electric lock.

C is doing well. Still looking for a job. I sure hope she finds one soon. She is a good girl. I wish I made enough money so she could stay home. She really does keep this house running while I am away at work. I don't know what I would do without her.

K has started back to school as a senior. This is her first week back so she is still getting back into the swing of things.

Dad has been going through some hard times. His medications were having a bad reaction with him. We are working on getting it straighted out. C and I have been making a lot of trips to the nursing home.

I am going to turn the rest of this post over to C.

Ok all it's my turn. Cornbread and I had friends down this weekend from Atlanta. We went on a run Saturday for our MC Club and had a blast. We went out to a local seafood place and had a great dinner. It was hard to see A & C leave it had been to long between visits.

As Cornbread said I am still looking for a job but was happy to hear I had gotten an extension with unemployment. I am still looking for a dress for the wedding but with money being so tight I will probably wear my MC extension colors. Alot cheaper wearing what you have than going out and spending money we don't really have. As long as we get married I could care less if we all show up naked, LOL.

Summer time in the swamp

Hey Y'all,
C has been out doing back to school shopping with k and two of her friends. School starts tomorrow. They are coming back here to spend the night. I am waiting for them to get back with supper. They ate at the food court at the mall and are bringing me a plate.

It is hot as ever down here. By 9 in the morning I am soaked with sweat from my head to my toes when I am working. I drink plenty of water and a bottle of Gatorade G-2. It's the low sugar kind. I don't pee a lot because I sweat it out. It's so easy to get dehydrated in this weather. I get dirty and nasty and by the end of the day all I want is a cool shower. It is good for me and I am becoming more used to working like I do.

C got her unemployment benefit extension so we are safe for a few more weeks. I am looking forwards to when she goes back to work. She shure does too. Lord knows she has been trying. She does a real good job keeping the home fires burning. She runs and does and keeps this house running like it should.

Working in the swamp

Hey Folks,
I am sitting here with a purring kitty in my bosom. Yep lying there right on my chest as I type this.

Work is going good. I am tired when I come home at night. The days are hot, sweaty and dirty. It's physical work so I am sore a lot. I haven't done any real work like this in years and I am soft. It is beginning to feel good thou. I am a helper but we all work together.

We were in a 2 million dollar home Monday. Today we are working on a job that someone did and screwed up really bad. They called my boss to come and get it right. I spent my day today digging out grout with a knife.

C is doing well. She stays busy around the house and taking care of dad.

Dad is in the hospital right now. He was having chest pains the other morning and the doctor sent him in to get checked out. He seems to be doing fine. They are just keeping him for observation.
