Missing Home

Hey Y'all,
As I write this, I find myself a little homesick. I don't miss the heat and humidity but I do miss the people that we have become friends with. Some days I even wonder if it was a mistake to move up here.

I miss my dad too. Since he has been gone, I have been a little sad. He was my friend that I could always depend on for advice and a word of encouragement. God rest his soul.

Our life has changed so much moving up here. I am starting to enjoy this fall weather that is coming and is already cooling off. It's only supposed to be in the 70's and low 80's here this week. We need to get a load of firewood for the winter. I am looking forward to winter and I am hoping that it snows again this year. It was a lot of fun being in the snow last year.

We returned some stuff that we didn't need from the house to Lowe's today. We bought P the grandson some clothes for winter and had supper where K works. That money should make us thru till the end of the month/ first of next month till money comes in if we budget right.

Take it easy!

End of the month

Hey Y'all,
It's end of the month and things are tight around the Cornbread abode. We will make it somehow thou. We got out of the house and went to a auction we usually go to that is local. We spent very little money, but had a good time.

I had a VA appointment to see my doctor. It went pretty well. I am getting some of my meds changed around. He is working on me becoming dependent on only one type of med that I am taking two of for the same thing. The combination of the two drugs has bad side effects on my diabetes.

Y'all take it easy!!

Fall is getting here

Hey Y'all,
We had a house full yesterday. Some friends of C and her parents came over. C cut her finger real bad slicing potatoes. She was able to get the bleeding stopped with pressure bandages, so she persevered thru the day. After everyone left we took her to the VA to get checked out. Since it had been more than 4 hours since she had cut herself, The doctor would not stitch it up. He got the bleeding to stop and showed her how to care for it. It is very painful.

I had to call the cops yesterday on C's oldest daughter to get her to leave the house. She was starting crap with me and my wife. When she found out I was calling the cops, she left. The cops showed up anyway. The officer that came to the house knew who she was from being called previously with problems with her. She has a history. That is C's oldest daughter J the grand baby's mother, not to be confused with her youngest daughter K who lives with us. K is decent and respectable and rarely gives us problems.

Today was a take it easy, stay in day. now it's night and I am wide awake.

Y'all take it easy!

Stayed in today

Hi Y'all,
I am posting for Friday the 17th.

We stayed at home today. I haven't even been outside at all. I cooked a small ham and made potato soup for supper. We didn't go to the auction like we usually do. Which probably isn't a bad thing. With things tight and it being the middle of the month.

Our youngest daughter K, got a speeding ticket today on the way back home on the interstate. She was doing 88 in a 70. In Georgia there is some kind of new super speeder law. She will probably get a 400 or 500 dollar fine and possibly face suspension. She can't find out until Wednesday how much her fine will actually be and all the particulars.

C, me and P are doing fine. We are just taking it easy. We don't have much money to do much else.

Well, Y'all Take Care!

Enjoying Life in the foothills

Hey Y'all,
With the fall weather comes my desire to cook a little bit. I have a small ham in the fridge, just enough for C and I. I am going to make some home made potato soup to go with it for us also. It will make a good Friday meal. Part of my religious back ground may be of the catholic persuasion, but I don't believe in having to eat fish on Fridays. I'm not Jewish so a little pork won't hurt lol.

I have to figure out what vegetable to go with it. We have some of those steam fresh corn and some green beans that you do in the microwave. They are quite good. Have you ever tried those?

We are doing good today. The cats are happy and so is C, Me and the grand baby. Things are still tight. That won't get better over night. I must say, I will be glad when the first of the month gets here. We got a little, not much of food stamp money left for this month. At least we know we can eat and P the grand will be took good care of. His formula isn't cheap.

P is eating table food now. That's all he wants and his bottle. That little bugger can eat!

Well, Y'all Take Care!

It's Starting To Get Nice Weather

Hey Y'all,
Hope everything is going well in your lives. We are struggling financially right now. Somehow God is going to see us thru it and we will survive. It's tough with the little one here. Just say a prayer that everything will work out. I am trying not to stress over things.

The weather is still warm here in the foothills. It is getting nice at night and the mornings. The A/C isn't running as much which hopefully will reflect on the power bill. We are enjoying it, and I am looking forwards to October getting here. I might even start wearing something other than shorts and start wearing shoes instead of flip flops.

P the grand baby is busy getting into everything. He is becoming a handful. Of course he has been walking for a month. He is a happy baby.

Well Take It Easy!

It's 0600 and I haven't been to sleep yet

Hey Y'all,
I tried to lay down, but just couldn't get to sleep. So I got up and made a big ol' pot of oyster stew. Ate the whole damn thing. Now I am just waiting to get sleepy. After I type this I am going to lay back down.

Yesterday had it's ups and downs. Hopefully today will be a good day. We'll see. I wish the weather would cool off a little more. It's still too hot to wear pants. By October it should start to being nice.

Well, Just wanted to check in and say Hi!

If I could only

Hey Y'all,
Everything is about normal here at the house. Which means that because of one unfortunate individual I have to deal with my house is disrupted. I am putting it in Gods hands. I have seen him deal with people before in my life. The outcome is usually a surprise!

On a lighter note, I have been getting into old am radios from the 1930's and 40's. I have one that is not working but looks nice and two more coming that are supposed to work, if they survive the trip thru the US postal service to here.

My Family is doing well C, K and me. P the grandson who lives with us for now, is doing well. My brothers and sister in laws are well. My niece has her ups and downs, but is getting by.

Well, Y'all take it easy!

Been feelin' a little low

Hey Y'all,
Been feeling a little puny for the last few days. Can't get motivated to do anything. Been sleeping a lot. Guess I have been feeling depressed. C says that if I don't get better by Tuesday, She is gonna make me go to the doctor. I don't think I need to go. We'll see.

C wants me to get rid of one of my cats and take it back to the humane society where we got him from. He likes to piss all over the place and took a pee right in front of her in the kitchen yesterday. The cat pissed and it pissed off C LOL.

Had the in laws over for supper last night. C made her chicken and dumplin soup. It was really good! I went to sleep for a few hours and then have been up most of the night.

Well Y'all take it easy!

Not just yet

Hey Y'all,
We almost got the house completely done today. There are some small projects that need to be finished and the one big milestone- The kitchen sink. We thought the new sink was the same size as the old sink without measuring it. It is bigger. Our friend didn't have his saw with him to cut out the counter top. He is coming in the morning to cut out and install the sink.

They stayed till 11pm tonight trying to finish. This was a unforeseen circumstance. We were all excited and still are. Our house is coming together.

C gave me a haircut tonight. Good old fashioned buzz cut, just like I like. This will be my last cut before winter when I will let it grow out a little. I am a sight to see with my little mustache and earrings. 3 in each ear, a gold hoop, a emerald stud and a diamond stud. and of course my missing front teeth and tattoo's up my arms and on my neck. Hee Hee! All I need now is my overhauls on.

I am so ready for cooler weather to were I can put on clothes and be comfortable. It is so hot still. It is cooling down a little, I am so ready for October to get here. That's when it gets nice!

Well Y'all take it easy!

Hay dare

Howdy Y'all,

Our friends are finishing up our house this week. It will be good to have them done. Their company has been nice. P our grandson has become quite attached to them. We will all miss them. We will still see them at the auction and maybe for supper every now and then.

We are doing OK. Just learning to manage day to day and week to week and month to month. C has been tied down with the grand. She is the one who does just about everything for him. Her sorry old man don't do much. I changed my first dirty diaper. I think it might be the first one ever in my life!! I have helped plenty of times, but never by myself. Nothing like ewwwee, wipey-wipey and squishy-squishy. Nana put him in the bath and washed him. I have diapered him plenty of times coming out of the bath. but never took the dirty one off and cleaned him.

C is a amazing woman. She does a fine job of running this household and taking care of the baby. I believe there are so many women out there that don't get enough recognition for being a stay at home mom. Thank God we are able to do it for now. Hopefully our finances will hold out and C can continue to stay at home. I am unable to work even a little bit because of my disabilities. If it weren't for my medications I wouldn't be able to do much of anything.

Well, Y'all Take it easy!
