Friday in the swamp

Hey Y'all,
We had a good day today. C went over to South Carolina and hung out with her friends over there. She brought home some nice fabric to make pillows for our couch and love seat. While she was gone I took a friend to the board of education to get her oldest daughter registered in school.

This evening we went out together as a family and had Mexican for supper. After that we went to wal mart and bought some stuff.

In the morning we are going on a run in my dads town with the club. It will be fun, I just hope we miss the rain.

Well Take it easy!

Momma cat is minus one

Hey Y'all,
Today was a pretty good day. I stayed up way past daylight to like 9:30 this morning. C got up early and we went to breakfast.

This afternoon after I got up we caught the gray bob tail tabby kitten. We took it to the groomer and she got the fleas off. Someone has been basically holding her and giving her lovin' ever since. She is a sweetheart. C and I named her Gracie. I fed her out of my hand and C got her to drink out of a measuring cup. She likes kitten chow. She likes licking our fingers after we ate. Her eyes are still blue and will turn grayish green when she is scared or nervous. She sleeps a lot and is sleeping on the bed while C is watching TV. She likes being around me and C. She is still getting to know K.

Molly our indoor cat doesn't know what to think of her. She has smelled Gracie all over but watches her and doesn't want to come up to her yet. She doesn't want to hurt her it's just Molly is still timid about this new addition to the family. We bought Molly a new scratching post to help her get over the stress. She really likes it. The old one is torn to shreds.

Well That's the big news today!

Wondeful sunday in the swamp

Hey Y'all

Our friends T and M and the kids came over and we grilled steaks. It was a good time and the only thing we were drinking was sweet tea, diet coke and mountain dew. It was a great time with great conversation. It lifted my spirits.

Now they are gone home and we are relaxing. C just got thru watching one of her favorite shows, army wives. I talked to my brother from Tennessee on the phone. We cut a watermellon tonight that didn't get ate at supper. It was seedless and good!

Well Y'all, Be good and if you can't be good, be good at it!

Couple of long days in the swamp

Hey Y'all!

C had a good birthday yesterday. We went out to eat, she went to the races, and we went out to the bar and met some friends.

Today we got up early and headed over to South Carolina for a run. We took her car. When we got to the start she got a poker hand and rode with somebody else. He's a good friend of mine that owns a trike. She came back and wants me to get one. We'll see. Can't do it right now.

On the way home we stopped by a friends house who's daughter had a baby shower earlier. We sat around and chatted out by the lake. After that we came on home. Had supper and now C is watching T.V. and I am realxing at the computer. Both of us are sore and tired.

Thursday in the swamp

Hey Y'all,
It's 2:30 in the morning as I type this.

Got up almost late for a appointment in my dad's town this morning. Got that took care of and brought Bar B Que and Brunswick stew home for lunch. C and I went to the big city to exchange one of her birthday gifts. After that we went to another town so she could go on a job interview.

We came home and saw K and J for a minute and went to the auction. We picked up some stuff there and hung around a little bit and came home. It was 11 o'clock PM by then.

We are up. C is watching TV and I have come out here for some computer time. We are going to my dads town tomorrow and then going to get C nails done. They need it really bad. She might get a pedicure too.

Tomorrow (Friday) is C's birthday. She has got lots of nice presents this year, but she is the greatest present to me.

We came home and I shucked and cut corn. C grilled some steaks. We had it for Supper. Ks friend B came over and had supper with us.

I went to wal mart to exchange a thermometer and I picked up some P-nuts. I have them in the crock pot cooking. I have never tried it that way. I'll have to see how they come out. They should be ready about 11 am tomorrow.

Howdy

Hey Y'all,
The terminix lady came today and sprayed the house and yard. Hopefully it will keep the ants away. We really haven't been having much of a problem as of late. We see one or two here and there. Hopefully we can get rid of them.

Went to Wal mart and bought C a singer sewing machine. She wants to get into sewing. She's all about learning as much as she can. We bought fabric and thread and a bunch of other stuff for her to sew with. She's looking forwards to using her new machine and is excited.

We had BLT's for supper tonight. They were good.

Y'all take care!

Hot day in the swamp

Hey Y'all,

We met the patriot guard riders in my dads town today to escort a funeral for a Sgt that was killed overseas. We did a lot of standing holding flags in the heat. It was a long service. We left before the service was over and came on home. We couldn't take standing around in the heat no more.

Had club church tonight. It was a good time and J fixed some mean chicken and rice.

We are home and relaxing in the A/C. Both of us are sore and tired. We didn't get much sleep last night. I got to sleep at 7 this morning. We were in my dads town by 11:45. I am sure C and I will sleep good tonight.

Well Take care Y'all,

Wide awake in the wee hours of the morning

Hey Y'all,
It's the wee hours of the morning and I am energized! I got to get up tomorrow about nine, but I don't know how I am going to make it. Somehow I will.

C and I slept most of the day today. She's in there watching TV trying to get sleepy. I am going to take a shower in a little bit and try and lay down. We have turned into night owls big time. I got some clothes washing right now.

We went out to the bar I use to work at tonight and had supper. T and M our friends were out there. We got to see some familiar faces.

We made it home tonight about midnight and started cleaning up the bedroom. We are getting it ready for the terminix guy to come in and spray. We haven't seen many ants lately. Which is a good thing. I still want them to come out and spray.

Well Y'all take it easy!

* Big yawn* Tired in the swamp

Hey Y'all,
We pretty much took it easy today. Had lunch with K and her friend B. Came home and relaxed out of the heat.

This evening we went to the auction. Picked up a air conditioner for some friends of ours. Got a lamp, a dish, some chairs, Christmas ornaments, a shelf, tablecloth. stuff like that. We had a good time there and enjoyed our night out.

I am tired now and so is C. We are going to sleep in tomorrow. Get up when we feel like it.

Life in the south

Hey Y'all,
Went to my dads house and met my brother this morning. We had to cut the bottom off the doors to a little out building. We got out there about ten before it got too hot. We were sweating. We did some running around my dads town and taking care of buisness. Came home and relaxed. I took a afternoon nap.

When we came home this afternoon our cats kittens were poking their heads out from under the trailer at the entrance we made in the skirting. this is the first time we have seen them. There is a gray tabby that is bold and would come out more than the others. There is a orange and white tabby and a calico. C and I watched them for a long time under their mothers ever watchful eye.

We went out to our local restaurant and had a wonderful supper with K and J. After that we went to Harvey's grocery store and dollar general. It is still muggy outside and the temps are in the 80's after night fall.

Just another day at Cornbread's.

Summer time in the swamp

Hey Y'all,
I thought we were going to have a busy day today, but it turned out pretty relaxing. We slept in and didn't get going till sometime a little before noon. I went to the building supply store here and bought a broadcast spreader and some ant killer for the yard. We are getting overrun with ants. They are really bad this year. I called terminix to have them come out and spray the house next week. We have been wanting to get on a pest control plan for awhile but have been putting it off. With this ant invasion it is now necessary.

We went to a bike night/ bike show with my chapter of the club tonight. It was at a cafe/bar near here. We had a good time and the food was great!. I was feeling dizzy all night. I don't know if it was from the heat or my sugar was wacky. On the way home I had to pull off the interstate and puke a little. Not much, only a mouthful or so. I didn't want to spit it out at 70 miles a hour and it hit C on the back of the bike. I have to live with her. I am home and cooled down and feeling OK now. I still had a good time and am glad we went.

I am getting re hydrated from sweating so much. C is in the watching her wedding planner show. She watched her favorite show deadliest catch earlier.

Well Y'all take it easy!

Long ol' day at the swamp

Hey Y'all,
C and I went into Savannah this morning for a doctor appointment I had. We got up early and didn't have a lot of sleep from the night before. We came home and had PBJ's for lunch.

One of my brothers from the club came over and cut our grass today. He helped me get the lawn jockey out of the back of C's car.

We got some rain this afternoon. I laid down in my chair and took a nap. We had supper later on and one of K's friends came over and ate with us.

After that we went to wal mart and picked up some things and came home. We are relaxing now. I am tired and yawning. C is in there watching tv. I am going to get in bed by 2, I hope.

Southern white boy and proud of it!

Don't worry I don't hate 'em all, there is just a whole pile of them I don't like.

Nathan Bedford Forrest was the supposed founder of the Ku Klux Klan. He denied any involvement in the organization. He was a plantation owner in the south. One of the south's richest men that enlisted in the confederate army. He went from a enlisted man to a general without any formal military training. He became a well established and successful military man. After the war he had several failures and finally died of complications from diabetes. To this day his legacy and name is controversial.

I of course don't believe in the KKK, Arian nation or any group of zealots, religious, political or social. I do however condem the people I see sometimes on a day to day basis acting stupid. And there is a whole pile of them. I can't help it if a lot of them I see acting that way are black. Oh there are white ones, Mexican, etc. I don't classify them and call them names until they piss me off.

That's why I got me a lawn jockey. It is a symbol of a bygone era with roots back to general Washington. It's also offensive to a lot of black people. I detest the blacks in my neighbourhood that sell drugs, hang out in the middle of the street, talk so loud at night I can hear them down the block in my front yard, have a bad attitude and accuse the white cops here of abuse. The NAACP marched on my town because of a situation that happened in my neighbourhood. The lawn jockey is my quiet contempt for what I see happening here. And it will look cool out in the front yard beside my no#20 cast iron cook pot!

Way down yonder in the land of cotton, old times there are not forgotten, look away, look away, Dixie land.

Day of rest in the swamp

Hey Y'all,
I slept the day away today. I finally crashed and burned after the great week we had. We went to supper with R and C at a seafood restaurant. It was really good. After that we went to the movies. C and C saw a chick flick. Me and R went to see transformers. It was so bad that after about 10 minutes of it I told R I was going to smoke, went to the truck and fell asleep. I hated leaving him like that but I just couldn't take it. I guess if I was a little kid playing with transformers, I would think it was cool. Movies like that just don't do anything for me.

After the movie, C and I went by dads house and checked it out and came on home. It is still hot outside even after night fall. Now I am relaxing, on my own computer and having a great evening. Carrie is in there on her computer and relaxing.

Back home in the swamp

Hey Y'all,
We made it back home this evening. C and I both a wore slap out. We had a great week thou and are glad we went. My trip to the VA went well today. Had a good visit with the doctor.I am glad we are home now. It's nice to get away. It's nice to come home too.

While we were on our trip we stopped by several road side places that sells concrete statues and statuettes. I got a lawn jockey, about 4 feet tall, black as the ace of spades for my front lawn. The place I got it from was really neat. The guy had all kinds of statues. I wanted to buy one that was a little black boy grinning from ear to ear and eating a watermelon slice. C wouldn't let me. They also had a statue of a Klansman in a sheet and hood. They had hogs riding motorcycles. They had all kinds of animals. The guy that owned the place was a trip. Good ol' boy. He had a white dog with a black head he named obama. he said he was a little bit black, a little bit white and everybody thinks he's cute, so he named him obama. LOL I got a chuckle.

Well Y'all it's late and I'm tired. I think I'm going to watch a little tv with my wife and go to sleep.

Take care!

Out of town with computer server problems

Hey Y'all,
I have been having problems with the alltel server and getting online. I will have to straiten it out when I get back. I am using the hotels server right now.

We are in Helen Ga right now. We had supper with C's parents at Edelweiss tonight. After that we went to the auction. We are back now and relaxing.

We stayed last night at our friends A and C who live up in North Ga. We got up early and headed to the Atlanta VA so C my wife could see the doctor. It went well. After that we headed up to Helen and stopped by C's parents on the way here.

Before that we were at my brother R's in Tennessee. He has a really nice house in a nice neighbourhood. I slept on the porch with the frogs hollering in the cool of the night. It was peaceful.

On the way to our friends C and A's, we went over a mountain pass and C got some pictures. If I won the lottery I would like to buy some property on the side of that mountain overlooking the valleys and mountains in the background. It was beautiful up there and C and I were awestruck at some of the views.

In the morning we will head out to Augusta for my appointment at the VA there. I am ready to get to the house and just crash and burn. It's been wonderful!

Aint's in my paints

Hey Y'all,
We were getting ready to leave the house this morning. I pulled on my shorts and ants started coming out everywhere! C yelled at me to pull them off and shake them out. I ripped them bad boys off and oh man! Them ants had teeth like alligators! I let out a tarzan yell and went to swattin'. We got them sprayed that were on the floor and I put my shorts in the dryer to get them out. I kept thinking I felt them ants crawling all over me all day today.

We went to the big city and did some shopping. Stopped by big lots and then went to the outlet stores. We had a good time. It was hot outside and after awhile Carrie and I got tired and came home.

Well That has been my day. Hope yours was good!

4th of July at the swamp

Hey Y'all,
We went over to friends house for the 4th today. We had a good time but it was too hot. We were thinking about going with them to see fireworks but decided not to because of the heat. I had got overheated by the time we left and needed to get into the air conditioning. I was starting to feel bad and my stomach was getting queasy.

We are home now. I have been in the A/C awhile and took a nap. I am feeling better. All the restaurants around here are pretty much closed up. Supper tonight was a PBJ sandwich. I guess you can't have everything.

Oh I'm tired

Hey Y'all,
I'm yawning as I type this. C and I went and got pedicure's done today and C got her nails done. I needed the pedicure really bad. You should have seen what that lady scraped off my feet. It made a pile on the floor! C's nails looked great. They were done by the girl she use to go to. She moved and opened up her own shop. We just happened to stop in and there she was! We didn't know where she went.

We got some groceries at wal mart and then went to the harley shop. I get chrome cash from my harley credit card. We bought her a new pair of boots, me and her a shirt, two charms and a cell phone case. We did good.

Tonight we grilled steaks we got from wal mart and corn on the cob. It was tasty!

Maters in the swamp

Hey Y'all,I got up this morning and saw C off. Laid back down and took a nap. I got up around noon and took a shower. After that I brought C some lunch from subway to her job.

After that I went to wal mart and picked up some dollar shampoo and then headed back home for the auction. We didn't stay long at the auction. I wasn't able to walk around very much. We headed to our local restuarant, met K and had supper. After that I had C bring me back to my truck and I went home and watered the maters. She stayed on at the auction for awhile and picked up some stuff. She got a old glass water bottle. It's pretty neat.

We picked some more maters off our mater plants tonight. We are going to have them Saturday when we get together with everybody for the fourth.

Well I'm tired and my back hurts, but what's new about that?
Drink plenty of sweet tea and stay cool!

Another hot day in the swamp

Hey Y'all,
This morning I went to dads house and met the junk man to remove a old freezer. I figure it is from the 1950's. It has been around a long as I can remember. We found a serial plate on it. It was a rich lean made by carrier. Carrier ain't made freezers since about the 50's. I've ate many a thanksgiving turkey that came out of that thing. Not to mention sweet corn and all the stuff Mama put up in there.

I came home and didn't do a damn thing. I was feeling lazy and I didn't have much sleep last night.

C had a very busy day at work today. She didn't even stop for lunch. By the time she came home her sugar had dropped and she was feeling shaky and bad. We went to the local restaurant and she drank some orange juice and had supper. When I got her back home she started feeling better.

Well Y'all take it easy!
