Back from the V.A.

Sleep apnea is no joke.

Went to the V.A. today and picked up my machine, got fitted ect. I got to see the actual results from the sleep study. I already knew I had sleep apnea, but wasn't able to view the actuall doctors report till today. I am not going thru listing all the results, just the ones I find interesting.

The doctor called my sleep apnea severe. I was aroused from sleep 437 times during the time they tested me. I had 178 apneas and 295 hypopneas. During my sleep stages I spent the most time in stage 2 (body preparing for deep sleep but not entering it). I only got 14 min. of rem (rapid eye movement) that night. The longest apnea I had was 43 seconds and my oxygen level dropped to 57% during that time. There was also arrythmias noted. (an extra heartbeat)

I shure hope this cpap machine works and I get some decent sleep. I know it will take awhile to get used to having the mask strapped to my face. But if it works, it's worth it. Maby I won't be falling asleep all over the place now.

Well thats what I have been doing today, besides falling asleep in the computer chair.

Wild weekend

Howdy folks. Cornbread is one wore out puppy dog tonight. Saturday I spent most of the day well into the morning hours out on the bike. I visited some of my club brothers who live outta state and then met the boss and Mama and our probate at one of the clubhouses we frequent. Made it home about 2:30 am and in bed at 4:15 to get up at five minutes to 6 this morning to go ona poker run. All in all I had a good time.

Saturday at the clubhouse we were at, one of these rich kid "insta bikers" showed up. He had just bought his first bike. A big ol' expensive chop from one of the prominate shops in our area. He was trying to be "one of the boys". Man did he get his ass raked over the coals. I didn't talk to him. I actually felt sorry for the guy. 40 thousand bucks and 40 miles don't make ya a biker and there was plenty of that fact being told to the young man. I heard later that he had been chatting with Mama and trying to sorta pick her up. I didn't get the clear picture on the whole thing, but it would be safe to say if I had known it at the time, the young man woulda learned a hard lesson about the motorcycle world in a hard way. I don't like to get mean and nasty, but if I had caught on to it, he would never wanna do that again.

Todays run was a blast. My relation brother went on part of the run with us and got to shake hands and meet people and do a little riding with the club. I think it was a good expierince for him. When he called me one the phone tonight, he sounded excited and real positive and wants to go on another run with us. I am glad. It's good for people to see patchholders outside of the stereotypes society places upon us.

Well, Y'all I am only up for a bit. I am playing catch up on sleep and tommorow I gotta go up the road to get measured for my CPAP machine. It's a machine with a mask on it I am gonna have to start wearing to sleep in. It's to deal with the sleep apnea thing. I am looking forwards to it. The people I know who have them swear by them and say they sleep a whole lot better with them.

Take care!

Friday Night

Tonight was good. Had church (club meeting) and the went and visited another clubhouse and had dinner. All around good time. Got my mind offa things for a little while. Nice escape.

Heard from a good friend thatI built my first harley with. Yep ya heard it right. The first harley I owned I built outta used parts. It was cool. My friend sent me some pic's and a T-shirt in the mail. Made my day.

Applied for unemployment today. I am gonna hafta fight like hell to get it, it looks like. But hey I could use the bucks right now. Keep your fingers crossed.

There is always so much going on in the MC world. Something is always hapenning. Sometimes good and sometimes bad. I was having a conversation with a patch from another club tonight and it's like he said. The good times make it all worth while. Ain't it the truth?

Well, listen. Ol' Cornbread is kinda tired tonight. I think I hear that hot shower callin' and then maby put it down for awhile. Mama gave me good hugs tonight and she wears the best smellin' perfume. I can still smell it on me from where she gave me good hugs. Every time I get a whiff, it just reminds me somebody loves me and cares. Have you hugged your biker today?

Take care now---

Shack Whacky

Man I got all this energy and no where fun to put it!

I've called my brothers and they are all tired and ain't doin' nothing tonight. I have been on the phone chatting to everybody I can. It's a conspieracy I tell ya!!!!

I did put in a application today at a job that I wouldn't mind getting. They were supposed to call me today, but never did. I guess I gotta get use to that kind of thing.

On a happy note I was digging thru some of my stuff and found my old zippo lighter with my ship engraved on it that I usta carry when I was in the navy. I had to swap insides with another zippo I have to get it to work. Hey man I thought that it was really cool to find it. It made my day! It's been over half way around the world with me, litteraly. I have fired up all kindsa smokables with that thing in the past. It works good on my cigarettes now though.

Pounding the pavement

Free to search for a job, Cornbread continues his quest.

Today I checked with a bike shop that I would like to go to work for. It's the same guy I was talking to yesterday when I got the call from my co worker. I came back today and handed him my aplication but it was over quick and I am getting considered. I didn't mention to the guy I got shitcanned after I talked to him yesterday. I am just leaving things as they are and hope I can get hired.

I've got another place I gotta talk to tommorow and see if I can get a job there. It's not the best in the world, but if it is meant to be the door will open. If not, it will close.

In some ways I hope it takes awhile to find a job. I just don't wanna run myself broke thats all.

I did get out this evening and go for a putt on the bike. I stopped by the guy who usta be my lead man's house and chatted for a bit. He lives down deep in the quarters and it was getting dark. Not a safe place to be for a lone patchholdin' white boy biker. There was already a bunch of black guys ganging up down the street from me and I could hear them very loudly talking about a motorcycle. This ain't my first rodeo and I knew what was up. I was causing a stir by being there. I thundered outta there after twilight and headed back home.

Well, tommorow isa new day. I look forwards to it!

Given the boot.

Yep, ya heard it right here! Cornbread got shitcanned today!

Since your all wanting to know, here's the story:
Last week I worked past my break for the guy who fired me ona project he insisted be done. My break is at 3pm. Since it was well after that I took my break. I have a sleeping condition which when I sleep I don't rest. Well at about 4:15 I sat down ina chair and nodded off for a minute or two. Someone opened the door to the room I was in and shut it quickly.

My boss asked me about it a few days later and I told him yea it was me and explained the situation. (I mentioned a little something about it ina earlier post.) Today I was out looking for jobs and I got a call from one of my coworkers wanting to know why he had to clean my buildings and his too and if I were comming in? I told him I didn't know what was going on and would find out and call him later. I was in the middle of talking to someone about a job I would really like to get. He heard the whole conversation from my end. I just looked at him and said problems on the job and left. I gotta go back with my application tommorow and talk to him some more. Talk about bad timing. But I digress.

I called my boss on his cell and asked what was going on? he said "I need to see ya soon as possible" I pretty much knew the deal then. I went to my bosses office and sat down and was told I was terminated and why. I was very respectfull and had a good attitude and told him what I thought about the whole situation and refused to sign his paperwork that his boss had sent. The new boss, his boss is the one who fired me. I gotta turn in my uniforms and other set of keys tommorow where the asshole works that fired me. I have nothing to say to the man and hope he says nothing to me.

Ya know I hate it that it happened that way, but something has been telling me for awhile it's my time to go from there. It's a job I took for temporary employment 3 years ago with low pay and no benifits that I just never quit and looked for another job. I hate to have the stigma of being fired from a job, especially for sleeping on the job. But ya know I think it's for the better.

If ya think about ol' cornbread tonight before bed say a prayer for him will ya? I wanna find something I am happy in.

Y'all take care now, ya hear?Posted by Picasa

Get a job

Well Another evening at the rockpile gone away. I don't have to show up till midnight tommorow cause I "swing" to the graveyard shift for a coupla nights. I'll be pounding the pavement tommorow when I wake up looking for another job when most of you read this.

I am really unshure how to go about it all. I have some places in mind that I want to check with. I cruised by the dept. of labor today and didn't see much that interested me. I shure hope I can find whatever is out there waiting for me that I can be realitivly happy at. We'll see. Hey at least I'm trying. Working at the rockpile isn't quite the bottom of the barrel but it damn shure is close.

On a good note dad seems to be doin' remakably well. I am thankfull for that. He's getting out and driving again and stuff like that.

Funny I called a old friend tonight that is very churchified and stuff. I like him and consider him a friend, but I shure hate to be preached too these days. Makes me not call too often. I must say that I feel more blessed and happy than the days when I myself was all in to it big time. That was many years ago now. I believe that God knows each and every one of us and ya don't hafta go to church to be spirtual or carry love in your heart or to be "right" with God. Leave me and God alone. We get along just fine as we are. Maby I'll smoke a turd in hell for saying that, but thats the way I feel about the situation.

God please give me a new j.o.b. that I will like.

Y'all take care!

Life doesn't slow down, But I like it!

Pic is borrowed from bikernet.com
Well, It's been a few days, Back again.
The rockpile changed my work scedule suposidly only for a week. Now I am working the swing shift. Swinging between evenings and graveyard. I also got into trouble friday because I was caught napping on my break. Seems the new boss has snitches folowing us around to see if we do anything wrong. One of his cheese eaters saw me with my head down on my break and turned me in. I have decided cornbread's time to leave the rockpile has come and I am looking around for different employmet. I can't take it no more.

On a different note the girl who stood me up was leaving her work today at the restaurant. My V.P. and I stopped by cause he wanted to give her a ration of shit about standing me up. He is a old friend of hers that she didn't realize who he was. We stopped by and chatted for a bit and she was asking me about the run comiing up next weekend that I invited her too. I had to tell her things changed because the rockpile has changed my hours and I will be working during the time the last part of the run was going on. It gave me a easy out to not take her with me. We can still remain friends and I don't have to be unpleasant to her. She still wants to get together with me sometime. I'm not shure I see that happening anytime soon.

Like the pic I got up today? I borrowed/stole whatever ya want to call it offa bikernet.com They really do find some great stuff on there. Some people would say it's a bad pic of a fallen angel sinning. I thought it was pretty cool. If ya see anyone fitting her description, tell her there is a big ol' biker who would shure like to meet her.Posted by Picasa

It's been awhile

Damn this has been a busy week! Where has it gone? Seems to me it has slipped away too fast. Work at the rockpile has been a trip, I've been going and comming at the same time.

Went to my brothers bar last night and stopped at Carrabas for some pasta and sauce and meatballs on the way. The bartender who usta give me my big ol' bear hug is AWOL. Don't know what the deal is on that. On the way home from my brothers bar I have to travell by the saloon and saw Mama's truck out there. Stopped in and harrased them for a bit. Made my night. I had to get away last night. Dad was gone to his girlfriends and I needed a night out. I am so glad he is driving again and doin' more for himself. I think it does him a world of good to get out.

Cornbreads hangin' in there. Just livin life and thinking what a big ol' world we live in.

Color me Lavender

you are lavender
#E6E6FA

Your dominant hue is blue, making you a good friend who people love and trust. You're good in social situations and want to fit in. Just be careful not to compromise who you are to make them happy.

Your saturation level is very low - you have better things to do than jump headfirst into every little project. You make sure your actions are going to really accomplish something before you start because you hate wasting energy making everyone else think you're working.

Your outlook on life is bright. You see good things in situations where others may not be able to, and it frustrates you to see them get down on everything.

What can I say about today? I got stood up for a date to go out Bike riding By a girl I have known for awhile. I had stopped talking to her because of things like this before. I have been comming around because she works ina restaurant that dad likes to frequent. She reminded me That we were supposed to go ona bike ride. Recently I gave her short notice about a ride but she coulden't get away but swore she wanted to go. This time I have gave her plenty of notice and I get a call from her daughter this morning that she can't go cause she is taking care of someone who is sick but really wants to soon "get a rain check" as she put it. I had also invited her to go ona run at the end of this month. I almost don't want to take her now. I have extended the offer, so I won't go back on my word. If she does this again there will be no chance in hell her ass will ever lite on cornbreads bike. In fact I really don't want her to go riding with me now, but some of my (club) brothers and even my dad who knows the situation better than I can put in words here say I should give her a chance. All I can say is right now she is blowing it with me.
Cornbread hates bullshit.
I did Get to spend the afternoon with the boss, and see mama when she got off work today. They really are my Family and I tell ya it makes me feel good to be around them. It kinda recharges my batteries so to speak. I shure do love them and my brothers in the club. The boss was busy today taking care of things around his house. They lucked out and there kids are gone tonight so they have the house to themselves.
Tommorow is back to work at the rockpile for ol' cornbread. I ain't really lookin forwards to it, but I need that little bit they pay me.

Y'all Take care now, Hear?

Saturday, Wash day

Windy day today. Not much riding today! I am stuck in the house washing clothes. I guess those are the "sins of life" as dad calls them. He's off frolicking with his girlfriend while I'm washin' his drawers. Whats wrong with this picture? I guess it's my duty to take care of things though.

Last night was church (club meeting) and then we went to one of the other clubhouses and had some fun and ate dinner. My weird uncles ol' lady can fix some killer chicken enchaladas. Cornbread had him a platefull and a smile on his face!

Not shure what I'm gonna do today. Probably spend some time on the phone and see what happens. Ya never know in the MC (motorcycle club) world.

Pulled one of my trusty ol' zippo lighters out today cause the wind is so strong. Those disposable lighters just won't stand up to the force of the wind. It kinda reminda me of the days when I was in the navy and the seas were a little rough. If ya didn't have a zippo, you were screwed.

Hope your weekend is great!Posted by Picasa

Long weekend

A few days off from the rockpile! I don't have to go back there till tuesday! Hot damn!

Tonight I went to a birthday party for one of the other clubs patch holders. It was a good time and got to see friends. The Boss and Mama were there as well as a few other of our members. It's always good to see them. Only me and one other brother from my club rode in tonight. I gotta say Hearin' them pipes sound off and twistin' the wick shure cleans out the cobwebs. That steady thump of the engine just seems to drive away my cares. I haven't been riding for one reason or another lately. Ridng out in the moonlit sky tonight was like havin sex.

Tommorow I travel outta town a few hours up the road to The V.A. hospital for a doctors appointment. Shure will be glad to get it outta the way. Gotta talk to them about a few things, Mostly the sleep apnea thing and my back. It will be fun to get outta town and skip work for a day though. I am having to fast till tommorow cause of some blood tests the will be doing. That sucks, but Oh well "it ain't no thing but a chicken wing"

Well have fun and get out there and RIDE!!! It doeth the soul good!Posted by Picasa

Thursday ramblings from a sleepy head

Another day in the life. Ya know my life isn't paticuarly exciting at times, but what can I say It's life. I guess we all have the day to day run of the mill things that go on. I work, I play I eat, I sleep (sometimes) And I get up and do it again. But ya know a quiet life is something I have come to apreciate. It hasn't always been that way for ol' Cornbread. I've paid my dues and still am paying them today. I guess we all have in some form or other. Lately I have been going thru old photographs. I have been thru my share of good times and bad. Where ya come from is who ya were not who ya are today. But some things never change. I wanna take time to just say it's important who ya surround yourself with. I have learned that in life.

Tonight I visited my club brother at his bar. It was his wedding aniversary. Shure makes me feel good to see someone doin' it right. Cornbread ain't never seen fit to get married. Too many short or broken relationships. It's funny how when ya start sleepin' with somebody things change. Some of the women I have loved the most I have never slept with. It seems confusing don't it? Ah well life can be a mystery sometimes, But hey I can truly say I woulden't trade mine for anything. the good and the bad. And I can honestly say that some of the bad times were really bad. I won't post them here. I just savor the memories like a sweet shot of liqour that warms my bones. But I never live in the past if I can. Today is today and tommorow will come God willin' and the creek don't rise, I'll be there.Posted by Picasa

Tuesday-What can I say?

Travelin' tote a turd.

Hey Y'all!
Hope everybody who reads here is doin' well. Cornbread? yea he has things on his mind, but he will be O.K.

Had to work at the rockpile today. A little stress, but ain't nuthin but a thing. I am home now and leavin that place where it belongs. At the gate.

Did make it by the Motorcycle shop today. They are still adjusting to this new wrench they got. They say he is workin' out fine so far. I got to watch him for awhile though before I can make a judgement. Terrible thing happened while I was sitting in there. we saw about 7 or 8 law dogs haulin' ass past the shop and a ambulance. The owner got a call, just up the road a girl ona bike got Downed (killed) ina head on accident. Bad scene, I didn't go up there.

Cornbread is feelin' lonley tonight. I guess we all have those days. But hey it's life and I am livin' mine. It may not be perfect, but it's mine. Know what I mean? I can remember the days when The ol' Cornbread man was feelin this way and coulden't get high (stoned) enough like there was some black hole inside him. Shure am glad those days have passed and I'm older and wiser. Now I am patient and know that the feelin' will pass. It's just simple emoitions that bother me. Tommorow isa new day. Oh well for what it's worth, we all feel that way sometimes.

Peace to ya out there on the cyber hiway!Posted by Picasa

Welcome to a new week!

Monday and were rollin' along! Today was a easy day at the rockpile. My lead man is not pushin' us hard. I like days like today.

Ya know I hate to say it, but it's been awhile since I pulled the ol' hog outta the go-rage. I feel like such a cager. I guess I am in some kinda wintertime mentality and I have found on nice days for some reason or another, I am unable to ride. I am supposed to take a friend for a ride here at the end of the month when we go on a winter time run. She says she thinks she will be warm behind big ol' me with her thighs wrapped around me. Heh Heh, even though I like that visual, she is gonna be freezin' her ass off.

Man, since I have picked back up this smoking habit again, I have been tearin' it up! It seems like I smoke more this time than before I quit last time. What's up with that? I am almost a chain smoker at times. Speakin' of which, I think I'll go put another nail in my coffin.

Sunday, bad news

Wow today was interesting. The club was on the way to a ABATE meeting and had stopped at a gas staion near where we all met up at. There was a accident involing a motorcycle of one of the ABATE members that everyone knows. A young kid ina car turned into his path and the biker T-boned him without even havin' time to hit the brakes. Fortunatly his worst injury was a broken arm so far. If you could see his bike and the car that he hit you would know angels were flying beside him. There is just no way you walk away with a broken arm and some other injuries from a wreck like that. He is in the hospital right now gettimg checked out.

I gotta say our club and another club in the area stepped up to the plate. We got his bike off the road and tralered to a safe place. Tonight we went to the hospital and gave his family his personal effects. His leather jacket and vest that was cut offa him, his wallet and helmet and glasses.

Ya know things like this really hit me hard. I'm not angry or anything. Just upset. It grieves me so to speak.

The weekend is here

Hey Y'all!
Yep it's the weekend. Last night I made it home at 4 in the morning, right now it's after 3 am. I have been busy and enjoying myself. Been out to my club brothers bar last night. Today I helped a friend move his daughter and kid back home after her husband decided to leave. Tonight I made it around to the clubhouses with the boss and Mama. I am always honered that they take me with them. I guess they love me.

Believe me there is more to tell about this weekend, but quite frankly I am tired and in some serious need of some sleep. I am fading fast.

Ya'll take care!

Ready for paycheck friday!

Hey man the weekend is almost here! I am sooooo looking forwards to it. This weekend promises to be fun, visiting with brothers, ABATE sunday. Supposed to be cold as a witches tit, but hey, It's all good!

I can't think of much stuff motorcycley today. Mine is in the go-rage colecting dust right now. I was riding around in the truck today at work with the windows rolled down thinkin' about how nice it would be for a ride. Now that I get off (work) at 5pm, night fall is soon here. I am jonesin' for some summertime hours when the sun don't go down till 8pm. In it's due time though, it will be here.

I gotta question that is sorta off track. See I go thru "kicks" with food every now and then. I go nuts over a certain food for awhile then put it down and later on pick it up again. Right now it is buttermilk. I love drinkin' that stuff. I'll get over it in awhile and won't pick anymore up for 6 months and I'll be back on it for awhile. Is there anybody else out there who likes to drink buttermilk?

Well, Listen, I hope whats left of this week is grand for everybody who reads here.Posted by Picasa

Half way there! On the downside now!

Well today was humpday, what can I say? Life is rollin' along. More bullshit at the rockpile today, but it didn't seem to bother me at all for some odd reason. Just seemed to have peace of mind. It was kinda surreal and strange. That is till I did wall mart tonight with dad. Believe me a trip to walmart with a 78 year old man ina power chair while the store is packed can break the strongest of men. But it's all good now. The groceries are put away. I have my favorite snacks and drinks. I am a happy man!

I guess the big news is the miners. Just remember when ya hear all the sad stories that one man did survive. That is something to be thankfull of. Why the one was spared and the others were not, we will never know.

Hey if ya like biker blogs, Check out crazy horses site http://femmefatales06.blogspot.com/
It's a group of biker chicks that are the real deal. I think you will enjoy some of their posts. These women are tried and true bikers. No posers there!

Well anyhow, I hope your life is rollin' along too. Remember life is a ride. dress appropriately!Posted by Picasa

Gettin' off time never looked so good

Well It was back to the rockpile today. There is a new boss at work. He is changing everything. Today the topic of conversation was who all was fired at christmas and why. Everybody telling what they knew. People are scared for their jobs. There is alot of tension in the air. It makes for a real nice working environment. I will not share my personal opinion of the situation or my new boss.

The weather was nice today. Didn't make it out for a ride because the sun is still going down early. I did finnaly get my attitude in the right direction from yesterday and being cooped up all day. I shure am lookin' forwards to the weekend. I heard it was supposed to get cold though. Maby it will work out I can get a little riding time in by then. For now I am a cager this week. I never take the bike to work for alot of reasons, mostly because it isn't convienent for me to do so.

It's another quiet night tonight. Just relaxin' and listening to internet radio.

Y'all have a good 'un!Posted by Picasa

Good days? What am I thinking?

Everything about the ride of life ain't perfect. There are gonna be bad days. Today ain't really a bad day for me, but thats where my mind is right now, so I am running with it. Kinda like the guy in the pic with the mile wide grin and bugs in his teeth. Looks like he's been riding for awhile don't he? Damn those bugs look gross. But hey he is riding! I left a quote from one of my favorite people in the motorcycle world yesterday, Keith Bandit Ball. "ain't life great? all ya gotta do is get out there and live it" Man it's the truth. Some days are good, some are bad. Ya take it all together and call it your life. You have a choice to be negitive about it or positve. It is so easy to think negativly about your going on's in life. We are all guilty of it. Believe me there is a bright side to everything. No I am not just blowing sunshine up yer ass. There really is. And speaking of ass, "even the sun shines on a dogs ass once in awhile." Do whatever ya gotta do to find that bright side to things. Call a friend, go for a ride, think it all out. Do something just don't sit there and let bad things kill ya for to long!

O.K. Enough ranting.

I have been cooped up in the house today. It's been raining all day long. Dark cloudy day. Made it to the waffle house with dad for lunch and that has been my big time out today. Been wanting to visit with some of my friends today. Wanted to go outta town tonight to my (club) brothers bar for awhile, get my hug from my buddy the bartender who is a real looker. Nope, ain't hapinin'. For one reason or another I coulden't hook up with my friends and I can't seem to locate my brother to find out if he is gonna be at the bar and it has gotten late. But hey I ain't runnin' the roads tonight before resuming work at the rockpile tommorow. I should be well rested. Been on the phone off and on with my friends today. It hasn't been the best of days, but ya know, I've had worse, lots worse. so ya know what? it ain't a bad day. If this is all I have to worry about, I am doin' good!

I think I'll go outside, smoke a marlboro light, and think some more. Posted by Picasa

Wow! What a weekend!

Howdy Y'all!
This has been one of the best weekends I have had in a long time. Saturday me and Mama and the V.P. and his wife went to a biker wedding. It was cool and then went and hung out at the clubhouse of the MC the guy who got married belongs too. Had a great time and some of the best damned chicken wings I have ever put in my mouth. Hot wing sauce and jerk seasoning (a carribean seasoning) On them. Chili and I coulda had some steamed oysters too.

Saturday night we made it too the saloon for new years and it was an adventure all night long. The lights went out for awhile and there was plenty of drinkin' going on. I didn't drink any because I was the designated driver for the night. Had a good time though. Eveyone knows that cornbread don't dance. Well till last night. I danced with The V.P.'s ol lady and Mama. First time dancing for me since 1990 or so.

Today was Lay around the bosses and mamas house while all the food was cookin'. Man that was one goooood smellin' house. Got to visit with some brothers who were out for a ride and came by. We ate dinner later on and man it was slap yo grandmaw good! I don't get to eat enough home cookin' like that often. Brought home a plate in the fridge. Brought it home for dad, but he is acting like he don't want it. Hey no problem dad! I'll be happy to take care of it for ya!

Tonight we went by and visited another MC clubhouse and had a great time. I was sitting back reflectin' on it all while there and I gotta say I am truly a blessed man. It just don't get no better than this. There are something about patch holders that is just special. For those of you who have been there, you understand just what I am talkin' about. For those of you who haven't, it's something you are missing, I gotta tell ya.

"Ain't life great! All ya gotta do is get out there and live it!"
